What to Know
It’s amazing what you can do with AI and AI assistants these days. Well, amazing or scary, depending on what you create, to be honest. The sister of a man, whose pseudonym is Luke, opened up about a situation she discovered that her brother was in. She spoke to The Straits Times about finding out an old classmate of Luke’s made up an entire AI-generated family…that included him as the spouse.
The sister, who didn’t give her name to the outlet, shared that photos of her kids were used and edited with AI to include Luke and the former female classmate of Luke’s. The idea, apparently, was that the former classmate wanted to make it seem like she had a family and a life that included Luke. But, of course, none of it was true.
He barely spoke to the former classmate with the AI family.
The former classmate of Luke’s was someone he was not close with at school or in the years following their time at school. So when her friend told her about the photos and then she told Luke, there was a lot of concern about what this woman was doing and how dangerous she might even be, considering her apparent fascination with Luke.
“We were very worried and concerned that this stranger has photos and videos of my children stored in her phone and was sharing them online as and when she likes,” Luke’s sister told The Straits Times. She added, “It has made us quite paranoid and anxious about sharing anything online now.
Since photos of her own son were featured on the women’s account in the Ai photos with Luke and the former classmate, the situation involved more than just Luke, an adult. However, none of the people involved in this fake social media family consented to being used for that purpose.
The man was alerted by a friend to the social media photos.

If someone hadn’t seen the photos and told Luke’s sister, he might not have found out about it. The friend saw the photos and recognized Luke and even his sister’s kids. Luckily, Luke was made aware of the AI-generated photos soon after. But the photos go beyond some present-day fake family pictures. Per Luke and his sister, there were also edited photos of Luke and the former classmate together, in their younger years.
And, they told The Straits Times, there was an image of Luke with the classmate wherein the classmate appeared pregnant. It seemed that she created an entire life for them, albeit totally fake, and kept it going on social media.
His photos were being used as the husband in the scenario.

Luke told The Straits Times that the discovery made it difficult for him to sleep afterward.
“I spoke no more than two sentences to her when we were in school,” he said. “From the very few times I’ve seen or had any interactions with her, I had no idea she was capable of doing this.”
But it doesn’t stop there. Luke’s sister said that some people approached her to let her know that this same former classmate might have also used Luke’s photos to pose as him on social media. After Luke and his family were made aware of the fake photos, the account was reportedly taken down.
So far, there hasn’t been word of a new account sprouting up with new AI images of the fake family.
