There’s nothing wrong with a grandma-to-be getting excited about the impending birth of her grandchild. Getting so excited that she almost takes over the entire gender reveal party and ruins the moment the couple finds out the gender of their child though? Yeah, that’s going to be a no from me, dog. Because that’s what one grandma did in a gender reveal video featuring her son and daughter-in-law.
The original video and account were taken down, possibly because of the backlash the grandma got for her behavior in the clip from the party. But don’t worry, because if social media users know anything, it’s to always take a screen recording just in case something like this happens. And under one screen recording of the party that someone posted, people shared their many thoughts on this grandma.
The grandma was physically held back so she wouldn’t ruin the moment for her son.
In a screen recording of the gender reveal moment, the new grandma gets excited as soon as the couple expecting the child, which includes her son, are told they’re having a girl. Everyone is excited, but everyone also knows not to step in front of the cameras pointed at the couple. The grandma, on the other hand? Not so much.
As she tries to rush toward the couple, someone holds her back. And then, someone else grabs her bag and pulls her back to essentially physically restrain her. The fact that she needs to be held back and that she can’t see the clear boundary in place is kind of ridiculous. The user who shared the video from the original account says that the grandma was “just seconds away from interfering with the celebratory hug.”
Someone commented on the video, “She was really fighting to get up there.”
Another added, “That’s such weird behavior.”
“People are so weird,” another person commented. “She could’ve just waited on the sideline until that moment is over.”
Someone also pointed out, “This makes me sad for the pregnant woman to have to deal with this the rest of her child’s life.”
The original video was probably taken down for a reason.
Maybe the original video was taken down because of embarrassment over the grandma-to-be’s antics. Or, the couple felt uncomfortable sharing a partially ruined moment that blew up on social media. But the entire account appears to have also been taken down. Still, people are talking about the drama that ensues in the seconds after the couple finds out about the fender of their baby, and it’s all thanks to the new dad’s mother. Shocker, right?
And apparently, this behavior is on par with this grandma-to-be.
“The couple specifically stated in the beginning of the gender reveal that they did not want other family members to rush up, just allow them as a couple to celebrate,” another user pointed out in the comments.

Other users who didn’t leave comments about the grandma’s behavior specifically commented to share their own personal stories of in-laws and their behavior that stepped over clear boundaries at times.
“My husband’s mother actually said she can’t wait to cut in on our first dance as a married couple and dance with her gorgeous son,” one woman commented on the TikTok detailing the gender reveal drama. “We decided she should not come. He’s the best man I’ve ever met.”
On another user’s wedding day, her own mother tried to overstep boundaries. “My mother wanted to be there on the first look between me and my ex husband,” she commented. “People had to hold her back.”
