Groom Fatally Shot by Bride’s Family Member on the Way to Their Wedding

Your wedding day is supposed to be one of the happiest days of your life. You not only get to formally declare your love to your person, but you also have the opportunity to spend the day with family and friends who typically only want to wish you well. Sadly, that was not the case for a young couple in India. Shockingly, a groom was shot and killed right in the middle of his wedding procession. The person suspected of shooting was a member of the bride’s family who was “unhappy” about the nuptials.

According to The Times of India, a 27-year-old groom was shot near Bibipur village in the area of the Khetasarai police station around 7 p.m. May 1, 2026. The unexpected gunfire triggered panic within the community.

The victim was Azad Bind, who was living in Badaur village. He was reportedly traveling with his wedding procession when he was attacked by someone who came up near his vehicle on a motorcycle, per the news outlet. Azad Bind succumbed to his injuries and died after being taken to the hospital, according to WKRC.

How incredibly heartbreaking for the bride.

Police said it was a relative of the bride who opened fire at the groom.

According to SSP Kunwar Anupam Singh, who spoke to The Tribune India, it was a man named Pradeep Bind and one of his associates who shot the groom.

Singh told The Tribune India, “A relative of the bride, Pradeep Bind, was unhappy with the marriage and, along with his associate Ravi Yadav, arrived on a motorcycle and fired at the groom, resulting in his death upon reaching the hospital.”

Authorities in India have registered a case and launched a manhunt for his arrest, per the news outlet.

Another relative claims he was also attacked that day.

The violence didn’t just stop there that day. The victim’s father, Ram Lakham Bind, claims that the suspect allegedly “assaulted them” earlier that day while he was on his way to Mumbai, per The Times of India.

He claimed he had his leg broken and there were two adults and two children in the car when the victim was attacked, The Times reported.

We can’t imagine how traumatized Azad Bind’s family and his bride-to-be must feel after such an unthinkable act of violence. Our thoughts go out to them at this time.
