Groom-To-Be Killed 6 Days Before His Wedding After a Wall Fell on Him in ‘Tragic’ Work Accident

Marcus Miller was working at a construction site in Ohio when a “tragic accident” occurred, according to his obituary. The 23-year-old died after an exterior wall collapsed on him. Tragically, Miller was just days away from marrying the love of his life when the accident happened. Instead of celebrating a new marriage, on May 5, 2025, his family mourned a young life taken too soon at his funeral.

Gary Guenther, chief investigator of the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office, confirmed Miller was killed at a White Pond Reserve development in West Akron about 2:30 p.m. May 1, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. Akron Police Department Lieutenant Michael Murphy told WOIO that other construction workers at the site heard the wall fall and went to check on Miller. Sadly, he died before anyone could help him.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the young man who lost his life in the tragic accident at the construction site on White Pond Drive,” Akron Police Chief Brian Harding shared in a statement with the Beacon Journal. “These incidents are extremely difficult for everyone involved and have a significant impact on our community.”

Akron Mayor Shammas Malik also shared kind words in a statement to WOIO.

“I want to express my sincere condolences to the family and friends of the construction worker who sadly lost their life in today’s incident at the White Pond Development site. I thank the firefighter/medics and police officers who responded to the scene of this tragedy to assist. My thoughts remain with all those impacted,” Malik said.

According to his obituary, Miller was a member of the Old Order Amish Church and worked on a construction crew. He and his fiancé, Alyssa Yoder, planned to marry on May 7.

“He was known for his easy going personality and ready smile,” his obituary notes. Per WOIO, Miller’s death remains under investigation.
