Gypsy Rose Blanchard Shares Pictures From Her First Days of Freedom After Prison Release

After eight years in prison following a second-degree murder conviction for her role in the stabbing death of her abusive mother, Gypsy Rose Blanchard has been released and is documenting her first days of freedom on Instagram. Blanchard, now 32 years old, already has over 4.4 million Instagram followers who've been quick to show their support for the woman who claims to have been a victim of a mother who subjected her to years of medical abuse.

As she prepares to celebrate 2024 as a free woman, Blanchard has been reconnecting with her family, including her stepsister, and spending time with her husband, Ryan Scott Anderson. She's documenting all of it on social media as she also promotes her upcoming book, Released, which debuts in January 2024.

She's sharing selfies of 'freedom.'

More than six million people hit the heart button to show their support for Gypsy Rose's first post-prison selfie on December 29. She was pictured in a hotel room, smiling with the caption "First selfie of freedom!"

Blanchard, who served time in prison in Missouri, is said to be moving to Louisiana, where her husband works as a middle school teacher.

She went from a prison wedding to New Year's Day kisses.

Gypsy Rose and Ryan Scott Anderson first met via letter in 2020 and began a courtship through mail and over the phone as COVID-19 restrictions prevented them from meeting in person. They eventually did meet in person and were married in a small prison ceremony in 2022.

Gypsy Rose gushed in her Instagram post that she was looking forward to "A New Years Eve Eve kiss with my hubby " and took a moment to promote an upcoming special about her life, urging followers to "watch how our love story began on #theprisonconfessionsofgypsyroseblanchard airing on @lifetimetv".

She reunited with family members.

Following her release, Gypsy Rose spent an evening in a rental home in Overland Park, Kansas, popping bottles of champagne and reconnecting with members of her family during a welcome home party. She appears to have spent time with her father, Rod Blanchard, her stepmother Kristy, and her stepsister Mia Blanchard.

Husband Ryan was also present for the party, which reports from UK's Daily Mail indicated may have included belated Christmas gifts for the woman who has spent the last eight Christmases behind bars.

More media is on the way for Gypsy Rose.

People interested in following Gypsy Rose's story will have plenty of chances to do so. Not only is she quickly gaining followers on social media, but she's also heavily promoting the Lifetime series The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, which begins on January 5.
