Paris-Themed Valentine’s Day Goes Awry After Man Suspects Wife of Cheating & Stabs Her 40 Times

What started as a romantic Valentine’s Day date ended in a horrific stabbing. Taylor Meyer, 34, reportedly planned a sweet date night for his wife, 36-year-old Deborah Meyer, on February 14, 2025. But things apparently didn’t go the way he wanted them to. Taylor Meyer snapped and allegedly killed her in their Jeffersonville, Indiana, kitchen while their young children slept. On February 18, he pleaded not guilty, though he previously had admitted to his actions.

According to court documents obtained by WAVE, Taylor Meyer told police he wanted to do something special on Valentine’s Day. He claimed he bought her a new dress and ordered a special take-out dinner. “He described a ‘Bringing Paris to you’ themed event and even had his kids draw pictures of the Eiffel Tower as decorations in preparation for the Valentine’s Dinner,” the affidavit explains.

Taylor Meyer reportedly told police that he and Deborah Meyer danced to their wedding song and he gave her a card. According to him, however, Deborah Meyer didn’t seem to care and left their house after dinner. Taylor Meyer believed his wife was having an affair with a man from work whose contact information she saved in her phone as “My Best Friend, Emily.”

When Deborah Meyer returned, the husband told police, he demanded her phone. When she denied him access, a physical fight ensued. Police noted in the affidavit that Taylor Meyer had “strong animosity towards her for leaving,” WAVE reported. He allegedly held his wife down and called “her ‘Boyfriend'” and told him the incident was his fault. Police confirmed the person Taylor Meyer called is the one who notified authorities.

Taylor Meyer allegedly admitted to choking his wife and hitting her over the head with a wine bottle several times. Then, he reportedly grabbed a “big a– kitchen knife, a long one” to stab her in the chest. Per WAVE, an autopsy reported Deborah Meyer had about 40 stab wounds.

The disgruntled husband allegedly took a photo of his wife’s body and sent it to the contact listed as “My Best Friend Emily” with the words “Your Fault.” Taylor Meyer told police he hoped the photo would traumatize the alleged boyfriend.

Taylor Meyer resisted arrest, and police had to use force to control him, according to WAVE. He was being held in Clark County Jail without bond. The court set his trial date for July 15.

Deborah Meyer’s family will miss her dearly. Per her obituary, she had three children. “While her path wasn’t easy, Deborah longed to be a mother and with the same determination propelling her through life, she welcomed her first child in 2020. Shortly after she welcomed her second child in 2022, and third in 2023,” it reads.

“More than anything, Deborah’s devotion to her children was unquestionable and unconditional, showering them with her love, attention, and guidance as she began molding her tiny perfect humans,” the obituary continues. “Certainly heartbroken that she’s no longer here to continue her role as their mother, we know Deb continues her watch from a higher viewpoint and will definitely haunt anyone who causes them harm.”
