Police in Reading, Pennsylvania, found the body of Junior Cabrera-Colon with an apparent gunshot wound on September 13, 2025. Investigators quickly learned his wife, Geraldina Peguero-Mancebo, and young son, Jeydon Junior Peguero, hadn’t been seen since September 12. A full-scale search began for the killer and the missing mother and son. Sadly, investigators found them dead days later, and it appears the same man killed all three of them.
Police arrested 61-year-old Jose Luis Rodriguez in connection with Cabrera-Colon’s death on September 18. He reportedly confessed to killing the 31-year-old and dumping his body along River Road in Reading. Rodriguez initially faced charges of first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and other related charges.
On September 19, investigators used cellphone data to locate Peguero-Mancebo’s body in a grassy field off of East Huller Lane in Ontelaunee Township, WFMZ reported. They then began the search for 1-year-old Jeydan. Tragically, they also found him deceased.
According to court documents obtained by Law & Crime, Rodriguez told police he and Peguero-Mancebo were in an intimate relationship. He allegedly provided her with money and expected her to leave Cabrera-Colon. When she refused, the jealous man went on a killing spree.
Rodriguez admitted to shooting Peguero-Mancebo in the head and then dumping her body. He told investigators he took innocent little Jeyden and tossed him in the lake. Rodriguez told police the baby was alive when he threw him face down in the mud. Rodriguez initially thought about taking the baby to a hospital but feared he’d get into trouble with the police. So he took the most cowardly way out and left an innocent baby to die.
Berks County District Attorney John Adams addressed the media during a news conference announcing the charges.
“I don’t think any of us could imagine the tragedy that took place here and how horrific this crime was,” Adams said.
When speaking of Jeyden’s death, Adams appeared emotional.
“I cannot imagine anything more horrifying than throwing that 1-year-old child into that pond of water, and that child is left there to die,” he added during the news conference.
Rodriguez faces three counts of first-degree murder. Adams said his office will consider the death penalty.
