ABC 6 obtained a copy of the 911 call, transcribed here:

Emergency responders arrived a short time later to a devastating scene. According to the Columbus Dispatch, EMS took Emmanuel to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for life-saving care. Sadly, little Emmanuel died from his injuries a short time later.

An investigation began, and authorities learned residents of the home had a history of run-ins with the law, according to ABC 6.

Before Emmanuel’s death that police had responded to calls for domestic disputes, domestic violence, someone with a knife, another call about someone with a gun, and a missing person report, ABC 6 reported.

Franklin County Children’s Services confirmed to ABC 6 that the agency took two other children living in the apartment into its custody.

A Franklin County grand jury indicted Mims on charges of involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of her children, per the Columbus Dispatch. According to court records, prosecutors issued a warrant for her arrest. The court deemed Mims a “substantial risk to the health or safety of the child by violating a duty of care, protection or support.”
