What started as a typical kids' birthday party reportedly turned into a violent scene among adult partygoers. Carl Edward Scott, 37, allegedly began antagonizing other party guests and, when he was confronted, he attacked. Scott reportedly bit the party's hosts, leaving one man with a serious injury. Several adults worked to restrain Scott while they waited for police to arrive.
The party took place May 17 at a home in Lowell, Indiana. Scott reportedly attacked both the mom and the dad hosting the party. According to online records, this isn’t his first scrape with the law — it appears he is a repeat violent offender.

The incident occurred late in the evening.
Lowell police officers arrived at the home around 10 p.m. after receiving a call about a fight, according to court documents obtained by People. When officers arrived, they saw Scott on the ground being restrained by several adults, the documents state. A man reportedly told the police officers that Scott attacked him and “almost bit his finger off.”
It apparently started when the hosts asked Scott to leave.
Per court documents via People, the mom hosting the party noticed Scott outside talking to a female party guest. The woman appeared uncomfortable around Scott, and he took “money out of his pocket and began waving it in [guest’s] face.”
The mom reportedly went out and asked Scott to leave, and that’s when the violent attack began.
Scott allegedly attacked the couple.
When the woman asked Scott to leave, he began making explicit remarks to her and began to attack her physically. He allegedly pushed her by the throat and took her to the ground, court documents claim, per People. That’s when her husband got involved and the fight escalated. Scott reportedly bit the man and the woman during the attack.
Scott left the couple with serious injuries.
Lowell Police Chief James Woestman told People the man’s bite was so significant that his finger was “shredded to the bone and needed stitches.” Woestman added that the man’s wife “had a bite on her torso near the bottom of her rib cage.”

Scott was arrested and charged.
When police arrived, they arrested Scott, who reportedly claimed he felt as if he was going to die. He allegedly had mushrooms and acid with him at the time of his arrest.
Scott was charged with aggravated battery use when assault caused serious permanent disfigurement, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, and battery resulting in bodily injury.
It was unclear whether he has entered a plea in the case. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 18, according to online court records.
