Police, family, and community members in Georgetown, Texas, are trying to understand why a man would viciously attack an innocent 6-year-old child. Daniel Logan, 39, allegedly broke into the home of Arturo Diaz and Yilin Tang around 5 a.m. September 11, armed with a baseball bat. He reportedly used the bat as a weapon to beat the couple’s son, Jeremy.
Logan’s wife and mother reportedly awoke to the commotion and tried to intervene, but it was too late. Jeremy remains hospitalized at Dell Children’s Medical Center in critical care, battling for his life.

Family members awoke to strange sounds.
The Austin American-Statesman reported that Logan’s wife heard banging noises but she couldn’t find her husband, according to an affidavit obtained by the newspaper. When she went to investigate, she noticed her back door was open, and when she went outside, she saw a hole in the fence. The wife reportedly saw broken glass at the home next door and heard Logan and his mother, Cynthia Logan, 65, arguing.
Jeremy’s mother told police the attack awakened her. Cynthia Logan also saw her son confronting Jeremy’s father in their home, according to the American-Statesman.
Logan allegedly attacked his mother before going next door.
Logan allegedly attacked his mother first, causing injuries to her face, Fox 7 reported. According to an arrest affidavit from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Department, she reportedly had a broken tooth, facial cut, and eye injury.
Cynthia Logan saw her son enter the neighbor’s home and followed him, according to a statement to police, the Austin American-Statesman reported. She saw him climb the stairs, and Jeremy “slumped on the floor of an upstairs bedroom.” When she followed her son, pleading for him to stop, he allegedly hit her in the face with the bat.
Police arrived and arrested Logan.
Deputies from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the home just after 5 a.m.
“Through investigation, detectives determined that Logan forced entry into a home armed with a baseball bat and assaulted two individuals, including a six-year-old child. Both victims were taken to area hospitals for treatment,” a statement from the sheriff’s office posted on Facebook reads. “The sheriff’s office determined that the incident was a random act. The public is no longer in danger. As this is an ongoing investigation, no further details are available.”
Loved ones created a GoFundMe account to raise money and share updates on Jeremy's condition.
