California Man Chasing Wife Down the Street Amid Domestic Dispute Causes Multi-Vehicle Crash

There’s certainly something to be said when you’re having a heated argument with your partner and you have the ability to walk away or even drive away to take a few moments to yourself to calm down and hopefully come at things from a calmer and more empathetic perspective at a later time. Unfortunately, that doesn’t always happen for some, particularly women. A violent crash in Covina, California, involving five vehicles took place after a woman tried to leave the scene of a domestic dispute with her husband, only to have him to speed after her and cause the destructive collision.

An intense car crash took place just before 6 a.m. on March 18, 2026, in Covina at the intersection of Hollenbeck Avenue and Cypress Street, KTLA reported. It involved five vehicles and left four people injured and taken to the hospital.

ABC 7 reported that the multi-vehicle crash “stemmed from a domestic violence incident,” which police confirmed. Covina police said it happened as a husband was chasing his wife in his car while speeding.

A woman tried to leave the scene of a domestic dispute with her teen daughter, and that’s when the car chase began, according to Sgt. Derek Gonzalez, KTLA reported.

It is beyond scary to think about the woman and her daughter involved in this who, sadly, couldn’t escape an angry husband and father.

The collision was so horrific, it’s kind of a miracle no one died.

According to Good Day LA, police have been using drones and surveillance footage from buildings and homes in the area to try to make sense of exactly what happened.

Gonzalez said the husband hit his wife’s vehicle, which caused it to crash into the other vehicles driving on the roadway, per KTLA. Witnesses told Good Day LA the wife was actually trapped in her overturned vehicle when emergency crews rushed to the scene.

Firefighters arrived at the crash site to treat and take several people to the hospital, and most of the cars involved received significant damage, ABC 7 reported.

The family does not know what this domestic dispute stemmed from.

The husband who caused the collisions was arrested at a nearby home across the street after a neighbor flagged down someone from the news crew to alert them the suspect was hiding in his yard, Good Day LA reported.

An investigation has begun as authorities try to piece together what happened prior to this “domestic-related crash.” The Fox 11 news team spoke to the husband’s adult children, who were at the site of the crash. They said the couple has been married for 30 years and they don’t know why their father was chasing their mother through the streets of Covina that morning.

We hope that everyone involved in this brutal collision recovers swiftly and that the family at the center of the domestic dispute finds peace.
