Man Found Dead at Walt Disney World Property a Week After Woman’s Apparent Suicide at Resort Hotel

A week after a guest died by apparent suicide at the Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World, a second Disney guest has passed away on-site. This time, a woman reportedly found her husband unresponsive at the Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. The cause of 60-year-old Keith Patterson’s death remains a mystery, but a report shows he had preexisting medical conditions.

Patterson’s wife spoke to her husband around 7 a.m. on October 21, 2025, according to a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist’s report obtained by People from the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office. When she returned to their room a short time later, he was unresponsive in his bed.

Police arrived and used an automated external defibrillator to try to revive Patterson. Emergency crews took him to AdventHealth Celebration, where staff declared him dead at 8:26 a.m.

The Walt Disney World: Active Calls X account, which has no affiliation with Disney, shared a “person down” alert at the Cottontail Curl tent loop at Fort Wilderness on Tuesday morning. The account later updated the alert to “dead person.”

The sheriff’s office confirmed the death to People, stating, “A man in his 60s experienced a medical episode and was transported to a local hospital, where unfortunately he died.”

The nurse anesthetist’s report did not give Patterson’s cause of death, but it noted his history of hypertension and end-stage liver disease. Investigators do not expect foul play as there were no signs of drug use, injury, or trauma.

Patterson’s death came just a week after 31-year-old Summer Equitz reportedly jumped to her death at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Sadly, on October 9, a third woman died at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. She reportedly suffered a medical episode while on the Haunted Mansion ride.

We can’t imagine how Patterson’s wife must feel. What a devastating way to end a Disney vacation. Hopefully, he had no pain and died a happy man at the Most Magical Place on Earth.
