Man Tried To Kill Pregnant Teen Girlfriend After Secret Lover Saw Pics of Baby Shower on Social Media

Social media has changed life dramatically. It’s hard to imagine a time when we didn’t know intimate details about people’s lives and actually had to talk to them to catch up. Now, it seems everything’s online and sometimes information spreads to an audience it wasn’t necessarily intended for. This can cause drama, and in some cases, people act completely irrationally. Dominic Thomas learned this lesson the hard way, and now he’s headed to prison for 15 years after a court convicted him of attempted murder.

In 2020, the 19-year-old and his 17-year-old girlfriend were expecting a baby boy. As time went on, the pair’s relationship apparently began to sour, and Thomas started dating another woman behind his girlfriend’s back. Things took a terrifying turn after his girlfriend posted photos from her baby shower on Facebook, and the other woman saw them. Thomas decided to end things with his girlfriend and wanted a permanent solution.

According to court documents obtained by Law & Crime, Thomas sent the mother of his child a haunting text message. “I sick of living knowing ur in my life so imma do sum bout it,” he wrote.

He then told her he wasn’t at all concerned about the consequences. “Well that’s something very nice to say to me when I’m carrying your child so if something happens to me he will die with me,” the girlfriend wrote, per the outlet.

“No he won’t,” Thomas replied. “If my heart stops so does his,” his girlfriend clapped back.

Thomas sent the messages to his girlfriend the day before he attempted to drown her in a pond in Wichita, Kansas, Law & Crime reported. He contacted his girlfriend the day of the attack and asked her to go for a walk. Thomas told his girlfriend he didn’t want to live anymore because he was “lonely.”

“[The girlfriend] stated Dominic told her he ate a whole pizza … and she asked why he did that. She stated Dominic said he ate the pizza because it was his last free meal,” a police report reads. “[The girlfriend] said she asked why it was his last meal and he told her, ‘I’m going to jail.'”

Thomas then proceeded to try to drown his girlfriend in the pond. She pleaded with him not to hurt her and kill their unborn child. Following his arrest, Thomas told police he stopped “once she started mentioning their child it got to him so he stopped and left her there.”

After his arrest, Thomas told police he meant what he wrote in the texts. “He stated he sent threatening text messages from his phone saying he was going to kill her. He advised making sure she knew it wasn’t just threat and he would actually follow through,” police noted in the statement, per Law & Crime.

A court convicted Thomas of first-degree attempted murder in 2024, and last week a judge sentenced him to 15 years in prison.

Now he’ll miss out on his son’s life because of infidelity and anger. What a sad ending to what could have been a happy story.
