Toddler Wandering Alone Leads Police to Mom Allegedly Stabbed to Death by Her Ex Boyfriend

On April 26, 2025, a 3-year-old girl was found wandering around the parking lot of her Miami apartment complex. What was already a concerning scene turned even more disturbing when neighbors noticed there was dried blood on the toddler’s face and clothes. A neighbor brought the girl to her grandmother’s home in the complex, and the child’s grandmother flagged down police.

That’s when the child told police that her mom had been with a man named Joy. She said her mother was “hit in the head and was now sleeping.”

The mother received multiple stab wounds.

Sadly, the girl’s assessment of the situation was more innocent than the reality. When police found the child’s mother in her car, it was evident she had been stabbed several times in her neck, torso and arms, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. She was pronounced dead at the scene, People reported. The toddler was reportedly right about the man who her 24-year-old mother, Maria Camila Garcia-Molina, had last been seen with. It was 29-year-old Joy Chandra Nath, her ex-boyfriend. He has since been charged with her murder.

Nath had been stalking Garcia-Molina.

Authorities found Garcia-Molina’s body covered in blankets near the rear floorboard of the car, the New York Post reported. She already had taken out a temporary restraining order against Nath, but it was dropped after she failed to show up for a hearing, per the Miami Herald.

In the months before Garcia-Molina’s death, Nath had been stalking her, the Herald reported. He’d shown up at her workplace, claiming he’d left something for her in her car. Later, she found an Air Tag in her vehicle. The day before the murder, Nath saw Garcia-Molina and her current boyfriend at the mall. He got into an altercation with the man.

Garcia-Molina’s personal belongings were found in Nath’s car.

After Nath allegedly stabbed Garcia-Molina to death, he remained at the apartment complex. Police noticed scratches and bruises on his face, neck, and arms. He told law enforcement he was there to return some of her belongings, court documents state, per the Post. Cellphone data shows the mother left her apartment, traveled to Nath’s residence, and then returned to her complex, where her body was discovered.

Nath’s own vehicle contained several of Garcia-Molina’s personal belongings such as her purse, cellphone and several pieces of ID, the Post reported.

Garcia-Molina’s mother remembers her as a hardworking woman with dreams and plans.

Nath has been charged with second-degee murder and child abuse, according to the Post. A judge denied him bail during his arraignment on Monday.

In the days since her daughter’s death, Garcia-Molina’s mother, Ada, has launched a GoFundMe to help support the family through this tragedy, and a funeral service is planned for April 30. Describing her daughter, Ada wrote, “Camila was the most beautiful and loving girl that you can ever imagine. She was a hardworking woman who had dreams, plans, and a beautiful future ahead that was taken away from her too soon.”
