Community Demands Answers After 5 Teens Go Missing in the Same Texas County

TRIGGER WARNING: This post contains information about suicide, which may be triggering to some.

Being from Philadelphia and living in big cities for most of my life, crime is, sadly, part of the norm. I am very used to turning on the evening news and being informed about what feels like an onslaught of reports surrounding kidnappings, missing persons, and murder. Even for someone who is “desensitized” to violent crime (is anyone ever really, though?), hearing that a total of five teens going missing in a Texas community is still pretty shocking, but that’s what residents in Bexar County are dealing with. Unilad reported that the nightmare began with missing teen Camila Mendoza Olmos, who was last seen at her home on Christmas Eve 2025. After searching for her for days in hopes of finding her alive, sadly, she was discovered in a field 100 yards from her home. It was determined that she likely took her own life.

In the days that followed, the Bexar County Sheriff’s office shared four more missing teen girl cases, two of which are still unresolved. According to Fox 7, 14-year-old Sofia Gabriela Peters-Cobos went missing on December 29, but on December 30 she was found “alive and well.” Similarly, on January 3, 2026, 13-year-old Ryleigh Beth Shircliff was also found alive and well after a short period of going missing. Authorities, however, are still looking for two missing girls.

Angelique Johnson, 17

The eldest missing girl is Angelique Johnson, 17, whose disappearance was announced on Christmas Day. Though she is believed to have her phone, authorities disclosed that her current whereabouts are unknown. The post describes her as 5’10,” 198 pounds, with both brown eyes and hair.

Even though authorities haven’t released any leads, the community on the Facebook page swirled around several theories ranging from a party gone wrong to kidnapping to human trafficking. There is a lot of confusion online as to whether she has been found, with some claiming the teen posted on CrimeOrCourt podcast’s account that she is not actually missing.

Anastasia Vasquez, 14

On January 1, 14-year-old Anastasia Vasquez was reported missing and has not been located yet. She was last seen leaving her residence but has not returned and is without a cellphone. She was last seen wearing a black shirt and grey sweatpants. She is described as 5’2″ weighing 125 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

What’s even more perplexing is that even a young man named David Angelo Corrales, 14, was reported missing and then found within that same timeframe.

Residents across these multiple Facebook announcements have expressed extreme concern.

“Some weirdo stuff happening in Bexar county,” one person wrote on Vasquez’s missing persons post.

But several commenters have insisted that these are cases of “runaways” and not kidnappings. Prior to Vasquez’s disappearance, authorities noted that there is no confirmed connection between the cases.
