One of the hardest parts of being a parent around the holiday season is all the secrets you have to keep — and the gifts you have to make sure to hide well enough that your kids don’t find them before they make it under the tree. The good news: It’s all worth it when you get to see their faces on Christmas morning.
One mom had that big moment ruined, though, and when she shared the footage to TikTok, she didn’t exactly get the sympathy and support she was looking for. She was trying to roast her ex, but instead, she ended up being the one who got roasted by the internet.
She shared footage of her son opening up his gift.

The mom, Autumn Montgomery, shared a video of her son opening up a big Christmas gift from her, but unfortunately, he wasn’t as surprised by what was inside as she hoped he would be. On the video, she wrote, “When your baby daddy ruins your big gift by telling him. My heart is broken. My face says it all.”
When her son finally opens the package, he discovers that he’s going to see John Cena wrestle in person, which seems to be his dream… but it wasn’t all that shocking to him, since he mentioned that his dad had already told him that he would be going.
He was still excited that he got the tickets, but Mom looked very crestfallen.
She was obviously heartbroken over the situation, but many people didn’t sympathize.
Some people didn’t love that she was helping him open the gift so much since he should have been allowed to open it himself, while others weren’t impressed by her attitude about the situation in general.
“Not people seeing the manipulation women do to their children,” one commenter wrote. “Oh my goodness no she made the holiday about herself she made her son feel guilty no a mother would never.”
Another commenter added, “I feel like you could have been jumping up and down and played it off, idk this seems off, at some point you gotta let go of these small things. [He’s] happy either way.”
The situation got even worse for her after she shared the video.

As if her son’s gift being ruined wasn’t bad enough, Autumn returned with an update video a couple of days later, revealing that she didn’t even get to go to the wrestling event with her son because his dad wouldn’t let her have him for the day like they’d previously agreed.
“He has decided he is no longer allowing me to have him today and that my son will not be able to go to WWE,” she said. “That is co-parenting with a narcissist at its finest.”
All around, it sounds like this situation was a huge bummer. Better luck next Christmas?
