Many women have big plans for delivering their babies, and those plans can vary a lot. Some want soft music playing or the lights down low. Others wish for sounds that will pump them up and get them ready for the work ahead. Other moms want the whole family in on the big moment, but some prefer it to be a private time for just them and their partner. Then there is the decision of whether to have the baby without drugs or with an epidural.
Some moms even write everything down in an official birth plan to ensure every detail is followed as planned. But despite all the work and planning and obsessing for everything to be perfect, sometimes babies have other ideas.
Deshai Fudd, 23, of Atlanta knows all about how babies are going to come on their own timelines and no one else's. She shared a TikTok about giving birth to her third baby, who ended up being born in the car. It's a wild story, and she recently spoke all about it with Good Morning America.
This labor was nothing like what happened with her her other children.
Deshai told GMA that with her first two children she had long labors and that she had no indication this baby would be any different. She had contractions the morning her daughter, Dariya, was born. Her husband, Loston, works as a security guard, and she sent him on his way, saying she'd get in touch if anything happened.
"Every other baby, I was in labor for a very long time. With my son, I was in labor for three days, and the hospital is pretty far, so I was like, I don't want to go up to the hospital and just get sent right back and we'd be driving back and forth all day," she said.
The TikTok video is incredible to watch.
The one-minute clip shows Deshai's pants around her knees, with a baby sitting inside. She explains in the TikTok that after the baby was born, the couple, who were stuck in crazy Atlanta traffic, flagged down a police officer who escorted them to the hospital. Next, we see baby Dariya at the hospital, and her mom says she is in "mint condition."
The family was released from the hospital the next day.
When the family arrived at the hospital, emergency personnel cut the umbilical cord and took mom and baby upstairs, Deshai told GMA. They checked out the mother-daughter duo, and everything was OK.
A little over 24 hours later, the family was discharged from the hospital and went home to Dariya's siblings, Demiah and Lamell, "who love her very much," the mom of three says in the TikTok.
Initially, she was disappointed with her birth story.
Deshai was not expecting her baby to be born in the car, and at first, she wasn't thrilled with her birth story. But after telling the tale on TikTok, her mind changed.
"I feel like maybe God just put it on me to share it because I was feeling pretty down about the situation and all the comments and love and views and everything I've been getting, I could've never imagined that that would've happened," she said to GMA. "It just makes me feel so much better about the situation."
People on TikTok love her story.
Dariya was born on November 29, and Deshai just recently decided to share their story. TikTok users are so glad she did. The video has more than 11 million views and 1.5 million likes. In addition, 11,000 people shared their love and congratulations with the family in the comments.
