Mom Finds Herself the Target of Outrage After Joke About Affording Botox Gets Taken Literally

Despite the way some influencers might make it seem, paying for Botox and fillers is not cheap. You’re looking at several hundred dollars at least per visit, and if you want to keep up with it, that adds up to even more money spent on facial aesthetics. So when one mom on TikTok, Chelsea, joked about forcing her kids to go without food so she could get Botox, it was kind of a big deal.

Some users on TikTok even commented to criticize the mom for what they believed to be actual neglect. Now, before you jump to conclusions like so many did after they saw Chelsea’s TikTok, her video is 100 percent a joke. In fact, there are other users who have used the same exact quotes about Botox and starving their kids. Maybe it’s not a funny joke when it comes down to it, but Chelsea must definitely did not force her kids to eat beans and toast for a month like she says in her video. Still, some people missed the mark entirely.

Luckily, some users were in on the joke.

For anyone ready to call the authorities or start a GoFundMe for Chesea’s children, her post was made as a joke. Maybe she did get Botox or fillers in some way, but, she assured people in the comments repeatedly, her children are fed and taken care of. That didn’t stop one user from quickly commenting, “I assume you’re joking.”

Another said they saw the article and came to her account to see what the story was, but clearly was outraged and now isn’t. Someone commented under Chelsea’s follow-up video with, “I came here from the article and only clicked on it to find your TikTok so I could find the real story cause I just thought there’s no way. I’m so glad I was right.”

In the caption of that same follow-up video, Chelsea wrote, “So the @The Sun published an article about me last night…For anyone who didn’t get my post was a joke, please don’t worry my children are eating a well balanced diet.”

So no, no one is surviving on beans and toast at Chelsea’s house. Her video as made in line with a similar trend that other moms have made. The joke is that some moms do put themselves over their kids, especially when it comes to cosmetic things like Botox or even hair and nails. In Chelsea’s case, her kids are taken care of and really, that’s all that matters, right?

For other moms, looking good might take precedence over making sure their kids are fed and taken care of. Maybe “joke” isn’t the right word for Chelsea’s post. But it’s a clear TikTok trend and the users who make these videos do it in jest and nothing more.
