Mom Seen Dragging 9-Year-Old Daughter by Her Hair Arrested After Video Goes Viral

A mother in Georgia has been arrested after a video went viral that appeared to show her dragging her daughter by her hair while yelling curse words at her. The mother has been identified as Samarria White, and she has been charged with child cruelty. The viral video was taken and shared by a concerned neighbor whose children were playing with White’s children when White allegedly got upset, sent the other children home, and ran after her daughter.

The mother was arrested and taken into custody at Bibb County Jail and is being held on a $20,000 bond, per MEAWW. The child, her 9-year-old daughter, reportedly had bruising and redness on her chest and was taken to a hospital by authorities.

Neighbors captured the incident on video and reported it to authorities.

The video that has gone viral on social media was originally posted and shared by her neighbor Gwen-Harris Mackenzie, who posted that her niece had actually recorded the video, per MEAWW. “The video was actually recorded by my niece,” she wrote on Facebook. “Don’t know if any neighbors had witnessed this part but some did see her chasing her. It’s more videos. I was at work but called along with other people on my way back to Macon. All 3 kids were taken by ambulance and she was arrested. That just answered 80% of my inboxes.”

The graphic video appears to show White dragging her daughter by the hair, and every time her daughter started crying or resisted, she would yell curse words and expletives at her. Deputies were able to identify and arrest the mother thanks to the neighbor’s involvement, reported MEAWW.

When authorities questioned her about the incident, the mother denied abusing her daughter.

An arrest report showed that the mother denied that she had harmed her daughter by dragging her by her hair when authorities questioned her about the incident, per Yahoo! Life. Thankfully, the incident was caught on video, so White was able to be identified by the deputies. The neighbor who posted the clip said her kids saw White do worse to her children than what she was seen doing in the video.

In a Facebook post she wrote, “No I don’t know her or her name, her kids just play outside with mine and they have said this isn’t the worst she has done that they have seen, they just finally caught it on camera,” per MEAWW.

The mother has been charged and being held on bail.

According to a post made by Harris-McKenzie, White has two other children besides the daughter White was seen dragging by her hair.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office made a post on Facebook confirming the arrest happened Wednesday, July 5, and stated the mother also struck the child in the face several times.

Social media users were disgusted by the mother’s actions.

Facebook users commenting on the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office post had a lot to say about the mother’s actions. Some users pointed out that if the mother treated her child that way in public, it was likely that something worse is going on behind closed doors.

“Imagine what the child has gone through that no one ever saw, especially if she did this so blatantly in public,” someone wrote. “Thank you for getting some sort of justice for this innocent child.”

Another commented: “It’s sad when the mother is supposed to protect her children.”

Others pointed out that the neighbor may have saved the child’s life.

“Whoever called may have saved that little girl’s life,” noted one person. “Hope she gets what she deserves wherever she goes.”
