What to Know
By the time the middle of December rolls around every year, my garage and bedroom closet look like storage facilities for toy thieves. It gets to be a little ridiculous at some point, but it’s also hard to hide wrapped gifts, so where does that leave me? Apparently, if I have a few spare suitcases, that leaves me with no other option than to stuff those full of unwrapped gifts until I have time (and privacy) to wrap everything.
At least, that’s what a mom by the name of Laura shows in her TikTok video. She shows her hack for hiding her kids’ Christmas gifts as she stuffs a rolling piece of luggage full of toys, clothes, and other gifts that can reasonably fit. You might still need to find a better spot to hide that Barbie Dreamhouse, but this is an excellent hack for those of us who are tired of being terrified that a kid is going to spot one of their smaller gifts before we have time to wrap them.

It’s actually the perfect way to stash gifts before Christmas.
In Laura’s video, she gives a shoutout to whomever originally suggested that parents kid Christmas gifts in luggage. So no, she did not come up with this particular holiday hack. However, that doesn’t make it any less important for those parents who had never seen this as an option before. A.k.a. me.
When another parent commented to say that they had never thought of this before, Laura responded, “Hahaha, new little hack for ya.” Again, the suitcase trick might not work for every Christmas gift. It will, however, help you keep some of the more high profile gifts hidden, like that PlayStation you have had stashed away since you got it on sale in April, or that Labubu that finally arrived from eBay. Am I speaking from experience here? Yeah, maybe, but hey, this suitcase hack is sort of a gamechanger.
“Yes love this,” a mom commented on Laura’s TikTok. “I was only thinking this morning where can I hide presents. Thanks for sharing.”
Another mom added, “Ohhhhh my. I have two huge empty suitcases under our bed…why have I never thought of this! Genius!”
Other parents shared that they have actually been doing this very thing for years. Like I said, Laura isn’t the first person to think of this hack for hiding Christmas presents from little prying eyes. She is, however, the first person that some other users have come across, and for them, this is a whole new way of keeping the Christmas spirit alive and, well, hidden.
“My jaw dropped, this is genius,” someone else commented. “I have three kids. I literally lose the odd presents, throw them on top of the wardrobe when they get delivered, [and] forget where I put them come Christmas time.”
