There is already enough to worry about when meeting your partner’s parents without adding their approval of the way you look into the mix. So when one mom shared a TikTok where she literally cries into her phone’s camera after discovering her son’s girlfriend is “fat,” it’s a bit much.
Who am I kidding, it’s more than a bit much. It’s cringe, disappointing, and totally sad for the son and his new girlfriend.
Whether the video is satire in some way or not, the user did not share as much on her account. However, the clip of her crying and complaining about her son’s girlfriend’s weight has been shared across other TikTok accounts.
Naturally, people shamed the mom hard, and literally no one is here to defend her actions or tears.

People criticized the mom for shaming her son’s girlfriend.
The mom’s TikTok is a short video of her face, up close, as she cries and stares at herself in the camera while doing so. The text on the screen says, “POV: You just met your son’s girlfriend and she’s f@t.”
Although she doesn’t say anything else, the implication is clear. This mom does not approve of her son’s partner because of the way she looks. Or, to be more exact, the way her body looks.
Whether this is legitimate or just rage bait, plenty of users took the potential bait and were quick to comment on a shared video of the mom’s post, the original of which cannot be found on her account at this time.
In the shared video, the user who shared it stitched it with a quick video of his own face. Though in his case, his face is scrunched up in a show of disgust and disapproval at the mom’s topic of choice.
And in the comments, people came ready with their internet pitchforks.
“You just met your boyfriend’s mom and she’s in love with her son,” one user commented, as the POV of the girlfriend in question.
Another wrote, “As a boy mom: I apologize!! We are not all like this!”
Again, as with most things on TikTok, it is not totally clear how truthful the original video is in the alleged mom’s reaction to a son’s girlfriend’s appearance. But at this point, it doesn’t really matter. Other boy moms took the opportunity to share their thoughts on their respective sons’ future partners.
“As a mother of two boys, the only thing I hope for is that their partners are loving, respectful, and [a] genuinely good person,” a mom commented on the TikTok.
Similarly, another boy mom wrote, “As a boy mom I would only look at how big is the smile on my son’s face when she is around.”
And literally no one is here for the mom watching herself cry big old tears for the sake of attention at a feeling that is clearly not universal among other moms.
Someone else clocked the mom with: “It’s giving ‘I’m a boy mom and I raised him to be the perfect man for me and have had fantasies about it and now I find out my body type isn’t his type! And now I’m crying ’cause my fantasy is ruined!'”
