A worried father went to police in North Miami on January 6 after his ex-girlfriend allegedly sent him horrifying text messages concerning their daughter. The unidentified father claimed that Reyanna Icilma Thomas, 22, physically and verbally abused their 2-month-old daughter and that there were photos and videos she sent to him over the weekend of the alleged abuse. When police saw the incriminating evidence, they acted quickly.
Officers from the North Miami Police Department arrived at Thomas’ apartment, but no one answered, WPLG reported. After they gained access, officers found the mother and infant inside the apartment unharmed. She was promptly arrested and taken to Miami-Dade Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

The mother allegedly sent the texts to her ex-boyfriend in the early evening.
Thomas allegedly texted the disturbing messages to her ex, the baby’s father, on Saturday afternoon, per WPLG. The boyfriend was concerned by Thomas' seemingly erratic behavior and flagged down a police officer to show a video from her, according to a police report obtained by the news outlet. The mother allegedly repeatedly hit her 2-month-old baby girl, who appeared frightened.
Thomas allegedly called the infant names.
In addition to physically assaulting the child, she allegedly verbally abused her as well, the police report stated. Police said she called the infant a “dumb a– b—-,” and allegedly texted a photo of the baby with a blanket on her face “which appeared to restrict (her) breathing,” WPLG reported. The texts reportedly became more and more disturbing.
The mother allegedly told her ex she was leaving the baby alone.
The police report alluded to Thomas’ displeasure with her living situation, and she allegedly resented her ex and texted him, “I’m stuck with this thing until she dies. It makes me so sick that she doesn’t have a different father and I can’t love her because she has a part of you. I’m gonna enjoy my 20s. Left ur sperm in the house with a cat,” the report noted, per WPLG.
Additionally, she allegedly threatened to punch the baby “dead in the face.”
When police arrived at the home, the mother reportedly did not cooperate.
Police officers arrived at Thomas’ apartment in the 12000 block of Northeast Fifth Avenue shortly after her ex reported the alleged abuse. The mother did not answer the door, and police became concerned the infant was in danger. Once a representative with the apartment complex opened the door, Thomas surrendered to police.

Thankfully, the infant appeared to be unharmed.
Medical crews from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue examined the infant, and she did not appear to have any visible injuries, according to WPLG. Police arrested Thomas and took her to the correctional center. Per jail records, she was being held without bond on a charge of child abuse with no great bodily harm. Her next court appearance is unknown. It is not clear who now has custody of her infant daughter.
