There are few things the internet hates more than a mom being cringe for attention. So when a mom on TikTok, Lori Miggins, shared a video of herself in her daughter’s cheerleading uniform to get her money’s worth, she probably didn’t get the response she hoped for. She might have expected cheers of “yaas mama,” or “omg body is tea” in the comments. And sure, it’s astonishing that the uniform fits her well.
But social media trolls have a way of being as unforgiving as possible. And, unfortunately for Tori, she had to deal with that right away after she posted a compilation of her in the uniform, performing her everyday chores and tasks as a busy mom. Someone even commented on the video to point out that the daughter un-tagged herself in the caption of the video. Ouch.

The text on the screen of the TikTok says, “Making sure I get my $$$ worth on my daughter’s old cheer uniform.” In the caption, Lori explains that her daughter needs a new uniform this year, so she might as well get use out of last year’s uniform which fits her well, despite it once belonging to her daughter.
The video shows Lori making food, watering plants, loading the dishwasher, and even bathing the dog, all while wearing a sparkly cheer uniform. Oh, and she has the matching bow in her hair too. But just because the uniform fits, according to haters in the comments, it doesn’t mean Lori absolutely needed to wear it and film herself in it.
But the responses were not what she probably expected or hoped for.

It’s like watching a fast-paced movie that somehow manages to both tug at my heartstrings and leave me in stitches. While I’m still trying to figure out where the time has gone, I’m incredibly proud of the amazing young women my daughters are becoming. And yes, they still think I’m ‘soooo embarrassing,’ but I’ve come to embrace my ‘cringe-worthy’ moments as a badge of honor. So, here’s to the joyride of being a mom to teenage girls, where every day is an adventure filled with laughter, love, and occasionally, a few eye-rolls. Some users came to Lori’s defense in the comments, citing costly uniforms for cheer and other youth sports and activities. Others called out people for being bullies for no actual reason, and just for the sport of it. But that didn’t stop TikTok users from sharing their very honest thoughts on Lori’s video and the concept behind it.
“Look at me! I fit into my daughter’s clothes!” One user commented, clearly mocking Lori.
“You’re always trying to compete with your daughters aren’t you?” Another wrote.
Another user wrote, “I’m so glad we all agree that this is weird.”
“Nah this is too weird,” someone else added. “If my mom did ts I’d be so mad cause what?”
“You know…I’m trying to create better karma for myself so I’m just going to read the comments and stay quiet,” another person commented.
There’s no denying the rising costs of paying for youth sports, including cheerleading.
Other users pointed out how expensive uniforms are for cheerleading year after year, especially if Lori’s daughter happens to be on a competitive squad. Some commented to add that Lori’s video is meant as a joke and that bullies in the comments need not comment on her body and her relationship with her kids.
And as for how much cheer uniforms cost for teenagers who are part of competition squads? Per some parents in a Facebook group about competition uniforms, they can cost hundreds of dollars each year. And that doesn’t even include the accessories, shoes, and necessary cheer bags. So if Lori wants to do chores in her daughter’s old uniform, can you really blame her? Maybe she should just make sure she has thick enough skin to post it online, though.
