Every time I think my mother-in-law is just a tad bit too annoying, someone comes along and proves me wrong in the worst way. A TikTok user by the name of Jen posted a video where she explains how petty her mother-in-law is in purposely leaving her out of holiday cards she sends to the house.
She also explains how her mother-in-law has treated her this way for years, and that isn’t nothing new. Other videos show other instances where Jen’s husband’s mother proved that she probably wishes her son had married someone else. And, other than making us all be a little thankful for our own mothers-in-law who could clearly be a lot worse, Jen’s mother-in-law shows that her complaints know no bounds.

The mother-in-law seems to purposely make things awkward.
In Jen’s TikTok, she shows holiday cards that were personally addressed to her husband and her son, with no mention of her. The cards are even addressed to them rather than to Jen. But, she explains, this is a tactic from her mother-in-law that she has dealt with for the entire time she has been with her husband.
“I just wanna give a tip to mother-in-laws, OK?” She says. “My mother-in-law has been doing this weird s–t since I met my husband, OK?” She shows the two holiday cards her family received. And the kicker? She drops the bomb that her mother-in-law has never even met her two-year-old grandson, but still apparently felt the need to send a card and completely leave Jen out of things.
Some of the comments urged Jen to have her husband have a talk with his mother. Others suggested that she write “return to sender” on the envelopes so they automatically get delivered back to her mother-in-law. I mean, the only way to beat petty is to fight it with more pettiness, right? Honestly, I’m here for that.
She eventually went no contact with her mother-in-law.

In another TikTok, Jen reveals that, because of her mother-in-law’s behavior over the years, she eventually went no contact with her. She says that her mother-in-law consistently made her feel like her husband was better than her. It was a series of events over the years, including manipulation and drama with where the mother-in-law was seated at the wedding, that led to the eventual fallout.
Other women in a similar position as Jen commented on another one of her videos about going no contact and applauded her for standing her ground.
“I’ve been 11 years MIL free!” One user commented. “Totally the best thing stepping back and saying enough is enough.”
Another shared, “We are also no contact with my MIL and it makes me so scared because I have three sons.” Obviously it has to come to a serious point in order for most people to go fully no contact with their in-laws. But for Jen, it sounds like it was only a matter of time, even before she married her husband.
