Desperate Dad Called 911 for Help Before Leaving Babies Alone To Go to Work

Having a strong support system in place can make parenting young children much easier than doing it all on your own. For many families, one of the most challenging aspects of the early years is finding proper child care. Moms and dads who struggle to make ends meet often find the cost of day care centers astronomical. A babysitter might be a more affordable choice but perhaps not as reliable. On December 31, 2025, a desperate Arizona father called 911 for help with his young children because he didn’t know what else to do. Thankfully, dispatchers took the call seriously, saving the lives of two infants.

According to a release from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received a call just after 6 a.m. that day from a father who said he was responsible for his two 1-year-old children but needed to get to work and didn’t know what else to do. A deputy responded to the call and made a sad discovery.

When the deputy arrived, he found a generator running outside, with an extension cord leading to the slightly opened front door. Inside, he discovered infants strapped into car seats, placed directly in front of a space heater. No adults were in the home,” the news release explained.

Concerned for the babies’ health, the deputy contacted the Congress Fire Department. Firefighters took the infants to the fire station to keep them warm while the investigation continued because their home was cold. A short time later, police spoke to the parents in person and arrested them. Authorities placed the children in the care of the Department of Child Safety.

“This incident highlights exactly why we trust our deputies to rely on their experience and to treat every call seriously. I am proud of this deputy’s quick thinking and his commitment to make sure these two infants were safe,” Yavapai County Sheriff David Rhodes noted in the release.

This story could have had a much more tragic outcome had the father not called 911 for help. We don’t know this family’s situation, but we have to give the dad credit for contacting authorities. That was a difficult call to make, but it seems to have come from a place of love. Hopefully, this family will get the help they need, and the children will remain safe and cared for.
