Police searched the California home of allegedly kidnapped 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro after his mother, Rebecca Haro, reportedly stopped cooperating with their investigation. On August 17, 2025, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department investigators searched the Cabazon residence of Rebecca and her baby’s father, Jacob Haro, The Independent reported.
K9 units were used during the search, according to a spokesperson for the sheriff’s department, but that person did not say what was recovered. The spokesperson added that the search for Emmanuel is ongoing and that authorities have not ruled out foul play.
Additionally, “a large amount of surveillance video has been obtained from areas of interest and are being reviewed,” according to an August 18 Instagram update from the sheriff’s department.
The search came after Rebecca Haro reported her infant son missing on August 14, claiming Emmanuel had been kidnapped outside Big 5 Sporting Goods in Yucaipa, while she was changing his diaper. She alleged an unknown male assaulted her and knocked her unconscious. When she woke up, her 7-month-old was gone.
“I was going to get the diaper and somebody said, ‘Hola.’ I don’t remember anything since,” the mother told KTLA. “I woke up right here on the floor, and I didn’t see Emmanuel.”
“Whoever took my son, please return him,” Jacob Haro pleaded during an interview with KTLA. “We just want him back. We won’t do anything to you. Just give us our son. Keep him safe, don’t hurt him, make sure you feed him and change him.”
“If you know anything, please come forward or take him to the cops,” Rebecca Haro added. “Please come and bring my son back. I’m begging you.”
Despite deputies and K9 units from Riverside and San Bernardino counties searching for the missing baby boy, Emmanuel has not been found.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division interviewed multiple individuals, including Emmanuel’s parents. During an interview, Rebecca Haro was “confronted with inconsistencies in her initial statement and declined to continue with the interview,” according to the sheriff’s department.
The Haros’ 2-year-old child was removed from their home during the investigation, The Independent reported.
On August 20, the sheriff’s department confirmed it was aware of a possible sighting of Emmanuel in Kern County. “Investigators are aware of the reported sighting. No information as to where in Kern County was provided,” a spokesperson told KTLA via email.
