What to Know
A Kentucky father who allegedly likened his parenting techniques to training a dog now faces serious jail time. Deputies from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office arrested Shaun Christopher Webb after a relative reportedly turned over nanny camera footage from inside his Walton home.
Shaun Webb allegedly physically abused his 3-month-old daughter and suffocated her in an attempt to get her to stop crying. He reportedly used similar techniques on his 2-year-old son. The father now faces 10 counts of felony child abuse.
Police learned of the abuse from an out-of-state relative.
According to a release from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Shaun Webb’s wife shared video from inside her home with a relative who notified police on August 21, 2026. Investigators stated the abuse occurred on August 19 and video allegedly showed Shaun Webb slapping his three-month-old daughter with an open hand while she lay on the floor.
“He is also observed holding the victim up by the back of the head while covering her face, with her legs flailing, for approximately 19 seconds. Additionally, Shaun Webb is seen placing his hand over the victim’s face multiple times as she lies on the living room floor, with each instance lasting between ten and thirteen seconds,” per a news release.
Shaun Webb allegedly admitted to the abuse.
According to police, the 36-year-old father spoke with police about the allegations and admitted to unorthodox methods of disciplining his young children. Shaun Webb’s 2-year-old son was reportedly present at the time of the abuse, and Shaun Webb admitted to “suffocating” his son at least four times before he was nine months old. The father reportedly told investigators that you have to treat children “like a dog, you have to train them and set boundaries.”
Shaun Webb apparently can’t stand the sound of his baby’s cries.
The father reportedly told investigators that his infant’s cries infuriated him and the crying “triggers me, like nails on a chalkboard.” Shaun Webb said that when he covered his baby’s mouth, he wasn’t trying to deprive her of oxygen, rather he used it as an “action to train the behavior.” Police didn’t accept his reasoning and arrested Shaun Webb on 10 felony child abuse charges. The accusations appalled Facebook followers.
“Not many of these shock me anymore but this one made me gasp. Suffocating infants to train them?!? And admitting he did it? Dawg. Under the jail,” someone shared.
“Thank God the family member reported it!” Another person wrote. “The mother is just as guilty, allowing him to abuse the children.”
Police arrested the infant’s mother days later.
On August 24, the Boone’s County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 33-year-old Carleena Webb in connection with the case. Carleena Webb allegedly watched her husband abuse their infant on camera and went home to confront him. After the confrontation, she reportedly went back to work and left the two children solely in her husband’s care.
“Detectives, confirmed that Carleena Webb did not seek medical treatment for her daughter despite the obvious physical abuse she had witnessed on the camera, nor did she report the abuse to the proper authorities as required by statute,” per a news release.
Carleena Webb faces one count of criminal abuse. Deputies booked both parents in the Boone County Jail without bond.
