When Stephen Miller reported Gloria Miller, his wife of 30 years, missing, loved ones desperately hoped to find her. Stephen Miller called an Alabama television station for help, hoping it would broadcast his wife’s information, leading to her safe return. The seemingly distraught husband spoke to WDHN alongside his wife’s family, pleading for anyone with information to help bring Gloria Miller home. But it seems what really happened was more sinister.
According to a media release from the Dothan Police Department, Stephen Miller reported his wife missing on February 24, 2025. He reportedly told police Gloria Miller had disappeared, and investigators opened a missing person case. Early on, police suspected foul play. Investigators found some of Gloria Miller’s personal belongings, including her purse, at a shopping center in Dothan and later discovered her husband had allegedly planted them there.

Stephen Miller went to Facebook to ask for help finding his wife. “URGENT REQUEST. MISSING: MY WIFE GLORIA MILLER WAS LAST SEEN LATE SATURDAY AFTERNOON FEBURARY 22,2025 SHE WAS LAST SEEN AT 2629 HALLS MILL RD FROM DOTHAN ALABAMA. IF ANYONE HAS SEEN HER OR KNOWS HER WHEREABOUTS PLEASE CALL ME,” he wrote.
However, something seemed suspicious to Gloria Miller’s family following her sudden disappearance.
“This is not normal at all. She hangs around the house, she doesn’t venture away from the home, she pretty hangs around the house all the time,” Gloria Miller’s brother, Sidney Whitaker, told WDHN after her disappearance.
Investigators ultimately located Gloria Miller’s body in a dry creek bed under a bridge. Officials sent her remains to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for an autopsy.
The couple had a history of domestic violence, WDHN reported. Dothan Police Department Lieutenant Ronald Hall reportedly told the news station the couple had multiple domestic issues through the years. According to court documents, in early January, Stephen Miller filed an order of protection against his wife, claiming she threatened to “destroy” him.

The couple’s daughter also reportedly filed an order of protection against Gloria Miller on January 24. She claimed her mother harassed her and previously pulled a knife on her.
Miller Sr. reportedly admitted to having a fight with his wife on the day she went missing before strangling her, according to a police release, WDHN reported.
“There’s a monster underneath him and I didn’t realize that monster was in him,” Whitaker told the news outlet.
Officials booked Stephen Miller on a $1.5 million bond in Houston County Jail.
