A Teen Climbed Out of a Disneyland Ride Before It Ended & Reportedly Went Down the 50-Foot Final Drop

Disney Parks commit to much more than just magic and fun; cast members take guest safety extremely seriously. Despite top-notch precautions, accidents sometimes happen. On June 21, 2026, a 13-year-old boy reportedly climbed out of the hollowed-out log boat at the top of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at the Disneyland Resort and slid down the 50-foot final drop.

It’s not totally clear how the incident occurred, as Disney officials do their best to keep things like this under wraps. Witnesses who claim to have seen the incident think they know what happened.

Cast members reportedly acted quickly.

A Disneyland official told People that the teenager climbed out of his boat before the 50-foot drop, and a cast member immediately stopped the ride. Cellphone video from the incident obtained by TMZ shows the moment the teenager plunged to the bottom of the ride after climbing out. Emergency crews transported him to a hospital where he was treated and released, according to NBC News.

The incident quickly made its way to Reddit.

Disney officials have not released many details about the incident, but some on Reddit alleged they witnessed it unfold.

“I was in the ride when this happened I actually saw the kid fall down the hill for a second when our log passed the fall. 4 people in our log saw it and then one minute later the ride stopped for probably 10 minutes then it started again we went throughout the ride like nothing happened when we got off there were about 6 Disney police and a mother and two kids were with them all soaked,” a comment reads. “My whole family has been looking online for some answers, but this is the only thing that came up.”

This person also shared a first-hand account. “We’re on it at 5 somethingish. After, we were hanging out by the smaller bridge over the log water slide and a lady screamed. Around 6PM. My grandson looked up and saw a kid tumbling down the water slide to the left. I didn’t see it. But, the ride stopped for a good ten minutes after, and then kept running,” they wrote.

We may never know what really happened.

While some people speculate that the boy might have jumped on purpose, others viewed the incident through a different lens.

“Was he disabled and/or panicking/had some other issue, or was he just goofing off? There was an autistic boy that died after getting scared and trying to get out at the drop on the flume ride at Mall of America back in the 90s and this immediately made me think of that,” a Redditor asked. “I’m glad it sounds like he wasn’t seriously hurt though and I hope they do at least release his condition publicly to reassure the people who witnessed it.”

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure reopened for guests following an inspection and investigation. According to NBC News, the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health spokesperson Katherine Wzorek investigated the incident and “did not find any operational issues.” Due to the boy’s age, it’s unlikely we’ll ever learn details unless his family decides to disclose how the accident happened.
