‘Vibrant’ 14-Year-Old Boy Shot & Killed by Stray Bullet While Playing Video Games at Home

A 14-year-old high school freshman was reportedly just playing video games in his room when he was killed in “a senseless shootout.” The tragedy occurred in St. Louis on October 8, 2025. One of the teen’s neighbors, Mary Glaser, told KMOV that she was outside her home when she saw people start shooting each other like it was “a war zone.”

A stray bullet entered the home of 14-year-old D’Uwan Morgan and his family, killing the teenager. “The mother lost her son and it’s a sad situation,” Glaser told the outlet. She described the child as “an innocent victim” who “was not involved in any way.”

The homicide is currently under investigation, according to the St. Louis County Police Department. Through the preliminary investigation, authorities determined that the teen was struck by a bullet, but they didn’t identify any suspects. Speaking to People, authorities also confirmed that the teen was inside his home when he was shot by a bullet.

Additional deaths or injuries were not reported, but the altercation left bullet holes in several houses in the community, KMOV reported. D’Uwan’s aunt, Erica Davis, told WCNC that the teen’s mom is “completely broken.” After losing her son, she hasn’t been able to sleep or eat.

On a GoFundMe page, the teen’s mom, Keshia Morgan, described D’Uwan as “a vibrant, caring young man with a bright future ahead of him.” She wrote, “On October 8, 2025, my life was forever altered when a tragic incident occurred on my street. A senseless shootout led to a stray bullet entering my home, striking my beloved son Duwan Morgan, who was only 14 years old.”

As the teen’s aunt told WCNC, “no child should die like this.” Loved ones described the young teen as a nice, smart, and outdoorsy kid who was excited about starting high school after completing eighth grade.
