A mom of three died at her home in England, and police say a 13-year-old girl intentionally killed her. Police and firefighters responded to reports of a house fire on Newcomen Road in Wellingborough in the early morning hours of March 11, 2025. When emergency crews arrived, they discovered a female body, believed to be 43-year-old Marta Bednarczyk. Police arrested the teenage suspect a short time later and charged her with murder and arson with intent to endanger life.
According to a news release from Northamptonshire Police, police and fire crews arrived at the home shortly after 3 a.m. Emergency responders discovered the woman about 3:29 a.m. and declared her dead at the scene.
“Formal identification has yet to be confirmed, but she is believed to be 43-year-old mother-of-three Marta Bednarczyk,” the release reads. “A forensic post-mortem investigation, which took place today at Leicester Royal Infirmary, gave the preliminary cause of death as being a result of sharp force injury.”
Police did not release the teenage suspect’s name because of legal reasons. She was due to appear in court on March 12. Her relationship with Bednarczyk remains unclear, the release notes.
Detective Chief Inspector Johnny Campbell, the senior investigating officer from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, shared in a statement, “I want to take a moment to thank the many police officers and staff who are working and continue to work tirelessly on this investigation since the very tragic events of early yesterday morning. And, in particular, all our thoughts are with Marta’s family who have been fully co-operative throughout what has been a devastating couple of days for them.”
He added, “Given the developments this evening, we will be making no further comment at this time.”
