Tennessee Mom Gives Birth to Baby Who Weighed 13 Pounds

Whoa, baby! That's what one Tennessee mom is thinking. On June 28, Katey Taylor gave birth to a baby boy, Leo Everett Taylor, via a planned c-section. But she was in for one heck of a surprise: Leo weighed 13.2 pounds! "Our first was 9 pounds, 15 ounces, so we anticipated a bigger baby," Taylor told local news station WSMV4.

"He went straight into size 2 diapers," Taylor explained.

Not all babies can fit into newborn clothes for very long, a lot of them quickly move into 0-to-3-month clothing after being born. But not Leo.

Taylor said, "I think we left the hospital in a 3-to-6-month outfit."

The nurses at the medical center where Leo was born were surprised that Taylor didn't have gestational diabetes, and that the baby's sugar levels were normal when he was born.

"He does eat around the clock," Taylor explained. "It’s kind of hard to keep up for sure."

Despite his large size, his mama is enjoying every minute of having a snuggly newborn at home.

"I’m trying to take everything with, you know, knowing that it’s just temporary. So I’m trying to take in every moment."
