Texas Teen Killed in Tragic Accident Riding in Snow Sled Pulled by Jeep Driven by 16-Year-Old

When the opportunity for a fun snow day activity arises, especially when you’re a teenager living in Texas, where you don’t often see many snowy days, one would never think that a little fun with their friends could end in such a devastating manner. Tragically, a 16-year-old girl named Elizabeth Marie Angle was killed in Texas after a sledding accident that involved her being pulled through the snow by a Jeep Wrangler driven by a teenage boy.

It was just before 2:30 p.m. on January 25, 2026, in Frisco, Texas, when police responded to an accident near Majestic Gardens Drive and Killian Court, CBS News reported. The officers found two teenage girls with “life-threatening injuries” and began to try life-saving measures.

Approximately 45 minutes outside of Dallas, Angle was on a sled with another 16-year-old girl while an unidentified boy, also 16, pulled them along in an SUV, the Daily Mail reported. As the teen boy drove through the neighborhood, the sled with the girls crashed into a tree after hitting the curb, resulting in their serious injuries.

When the police and paramedics arrived, both girls were rushed to the hospital where, sadly, Angle “succumbed to her injuries,” per the Daily Mail. The other teenage girl involved in the accident is reportedly in critical condition.

A witness named Mark Fischer, who lives in the residential area where the accident took place, saw what happened.

“There were two girls sledding behind the vehicle, being pulled. And the jeep accelerated really quickly … From what I saw, the acceleration, especially when it’s ice like this… to be going that fast and, you know, a sled can’t stop,” Fischer told CBS News.

On January 26, 2026, Angle’s mother, Megan Taylor Angle, took to Facebook to share the tragic news of her daughter’s death.

“It is with deep despair and utter shock that Brian and I announce the passing of our beautiful 16-year-old girl, Elizabeth Marie Angle. She was a bright light, a fun spirit, a brave soul. We loved her so much,” the grieving mother shared on Facebook alongside a lovely photo of her daughter. “She just got a car and a license and had her whole life ahead of her. It was all taken away so abruptly in a sledding accident yesterday.”

May this devastating accident involving such a young and bright teenage girl remind us all that life is so very precious.
