TikTok Mom Has Hilarious Reaction After Realizing Early 2000s Fashion Is Cool Again

She can’t hide her reaction! A mama on TikTok went viral after she visited her local store and had a very visceral reaction to seeing the fashion that lined the aisles. It turns out the clothing she thought was super cool in middle school is cool all over again.

The early 2000s are back in style, apparently.

Nicole Story Dent, who goes by @nicolestorydent on TikTok, wasn’t expecting to see a blast from the past when she hit up her local store. And in a short 15-second video, she was able to convey exactly how she felt about what she saw on the shelves.

“When you see the clothes you wore in middle school back in style,” she captioned the video.

The video highlights several items that were really cool in the early 2000s.

The iconic butterfly hair clips were the first thing Dent’s video zoomed in on. These claw clips were often in bright colors, and people would wear them in their hair.

These clips would be styled with one on each side of the face to hold back the hair in the front. Or they were used more decoratively with several throughout the person's hair.

Up next was all-denim everything, with Dent highlighting a crop top style.

The early 2000s loved anything made in denim; if it could be made into a crop top, it was. Of course, back in the day, we saw all sorts of celebrities rocking this look from Paris Hilton to Destiny’s Child; it was all over the place.

Given Dent’s reaction to seeing this look back on the store shelves, she’s not OK with it.

The '90s had those black “slinky” platform slides, but the 2000s answer to that is these really chunky, strappy sandals.

They were ugly then, and they’re just ugly now — but making a comeback. These shoes were like a strange hybrid of the hippy Birkenstock sandals and the Madden platform shoes.

The ugly shirts and crop tops that don’t make sense are back too.

The first shirt Dent shares is a light periwinkle-purple tank top thing with fuzzy bits hanging down from the neck.

She then pans the camera to an old-school Looney Tunes graphic crop top that didn’t make sense in the 2000s and still doesn’t make sense now.

It's easy to understand why Dent was having such a big reaction.

Dent’s facial reactions throughout the video are hilarious because she cannot hide how much she hates what she sees. And honestly, same.

As one commenter on Dent’s video shared, “I’m too young for a full circle ✨moment✨.”

But another person pointed out something even more disturbing: "They didn’t bring back the good stuff just the bad."
