We all want the perfect wedding day video when we get married, but people on TikTok say that one couple's wedding day cake smash went a bit too far. That's because the groom didn't just smush a little bit of cake into his bride's face on the big day. Instead, he threw almost the entire three-tier cake at her head!
The video, which was first uploaded on January 8, 2021, took TikTok by storm.
It was first posted by the bride, Kelsey Carson, who goes by the TikTok handle @kelsboyd3. Not long after it went up, it had been viewed a whopping 2.8 million times.
According to the Daily Mail, Kelsey and groom Tony are both from Kingston, Tennessee. The lighthearted couple decided to partake in the time-honored "cake smash" tradition when it came time to cut their cake — but unbeknownst to Kelsey, her groom had his own ideas for how to make it "unique."
When it was Kelsey's turn to go, she kept things pretty appropriate.
Per tradition, the bride took a small piece of cake and spread it on her husband's face. The couple laughed, the wedding guests were entertained, and all was well.
But when it came time for Tony to go, he apparently decided to up the ante (just a little too much).
To the shock of wedding guests, the groom took several layers off the top of the wedding cake — and threw them right into his bride's face.
In fact, he threw the cake so hard that it practically toppled over the bride.
But if you're thinking the bride was majorly annoyed by all of this, think again. Both Kelsey and her new husband seemed to enjoy the gag. In fact, they were both laughing and smiling in the video — even after their cake landed on the floor.
A lot of TikTokers, however, did not see the humor in it.
Some people were actually alarmed by what they saw.
"DIVORCE ON THE NEXT LEVEL," commented one person.
"That's not only aggressive but so embarrassing??" someone else chimed in. "If he's comfortable doing that in front of all her friends and fam … scary."
"Ohhhh H—-L NO!!! Major RED FLAG," wrote another commenter, before adding several red flag emojis.
At least a few people thought that some commenters needed to chill, though.
"Apparently everyone on here is a therapist now, just because y'all are single and mad doesn't mean you have to come for her and her marriage," one person snapped.
"Guys, he was cracking up at the end he wasn't even mad," someone else pointed out.
"Wow, y'all shouldn't ever get into a relationship if you are this sensitive," another person commented.
Truth be told, the bride really did seem to take it in stride.
Despite all the negative comments on her video, she didn't respond to any of her haters, but she did leave a somewhat cheeky message in the bio of her TikTok page.
"A CAKE never hurt anyone," it read.
(We guess she has a point?)
