3-Year-Old Found Alive in Home With Sports Reporter Mom & Dad Dead From Apparent Murder-Suicide

Police in Hoover, Alabama, arrived at the scene of a tragedy on the morning of December 16, 2025. A relative called 911 after walking into a home on Highland Manor Court and finding a husband and wife dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Thankfully, their 3-year-old child, who was also in the home, was not harmed. As news of the deaths spread, a local news station confirmed the identity of former sportscaster Christina Chambers as one of the deceased. Now, many people want to know what happened.

WVTM confirmed the Chambers’ identities. The station reported that authorities found her and her husband dead around 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

“We are heartbroken to confirm the death of former WBRC reporter Christina Chambers,” News Director Shannon Maze shared in a statement to WVTM 13. “Christina was a valued member of our newsroom and a beloved colleague whose warmth, humor, and passion for sports left a lasting impact on everyone who worked with her.

“Christina was an accomplished journalist and athlete who brought energy, professionalism, and genuine care to her work,” Maze added in the statement. “She was especially proud of her ties to UAB, high school sports, and her community. We are praying for Christina’s family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”

The couple’s neighbor, Charles Maple, couldn’t believe the news when he heard.

“She was just a beautiful person. And, she was a great athlete. And she’s, uh, she loved her new job. Love what she did in the past,” he told WVTM. “You always talked about it, you know, was the kind of person that, you know, she was special. You know, I’m 80 years old now, and I’ve seen a lot of people. But you always come across somebody when, you know, they got it and she had it.”

According to the Hoover Police Department, investigators believe the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide. Police did not identify the victims or release who shot whom.

Their poor sweet baby. Hopefully, the toddler is young enough not to remember this tragic day and has family to talk about how much love the parents had for their child.
