Toddlers are fast — any parent will tell you that. If you look away for a second, that’s the moment they’ll get into something they’re not supposed to. One Georgia family is reminding parents of what can happen in just a second when you’re not paying attention.
Their 1-year-old son is being treated for severe burns to his face and arms after he pulled an air fryer off the counter right after it went off, accidentally burning himself.
The accident happened in the blink of an eye
Treatment seems to be going well
After the accident, Flanagan shared that her husband, Blake, would be taking Ryder to the Wellstar Cobb burn center where his burns would be cleaned. In another Facebook update, she shared that the burned skin was removed, and that he had received a stem cell treatment that would help the burns heal. She shared that Ryder was doing well throughout, and was his “calm/happy self.”
Ryder is still dancing
Despite everything that has happened, Ryder is still in good spirits. Though he was still in bandages, Flanagan shared pictures and videos of Ryder playing with his two older brothers and other family members, and even a couple videos of him dancing!
“Ryder has only showed he was in pain when it first happened,” Flanagan wrote in an update. “You can tell he doesn’t feel just right but he has not been in distress.”
The family is trying to move forward
A family friend started a GoFundMe for the family to help ease their burden after Ryder’s accident.
“Abigail is a stay at home mom and Blake has been out of work here recently and will be having to miss to take Ryder for recovery appointments,” the page reads.
“I just want to say thank you to every single person that has prayed and donated. We pray God blesses each of you as much as we have been blessed ❤️ Everyone has took so much burden and worry off of us and it’s truly a miracle,” Flanagan wrote on Facebook.
