Family Sparks Backlash with 10K Turkey Trot Prank That Seemingly Humiliates Man’s Fiancée

Nothing says “welcome to the family” like an elaborate prank. While some families genuinely might feel this way, a lot of people think one family took it too far with their Turkey Trot prank on Thanksgiving. The family tried to convince one man’s fiancée that they are a “Turkey Trot family” that runs a 10K together every year — but they’re not. In a video originally shared by a TikTok user called “Parksyyy,” the family appeared to be ready to run a 10K Turkey Trot. They even had matching T-shirts made for the occasion. Over the video, the TikTok user wrote, “Convinced my brother’s fiancée that we’re an intense Turkey Trot family… and that we run a full 10K every Thanksgiving, including matching T-shirts and a special costume just for her…”

But in reality, none of it was true.

In the video, the man’s fiancée sported one of the family T-shirts, a tutu, and a turkey hat, clearly prepared to participate in the family tradition. But then, she found out that the family actually made the whole thing up. Eventually, people in the family told her, “We’re kidding. There’s no race.”

And while the family member who originally shared the video noted in the caption that their brother’s fiancée actually found the prank “very funny,” people in the comments noticed that she looked kind of distraught.

Maybe it didn’t actually bother the fiancée, but many commenters said that if the same thing had happened to them, they would’ve felt “horrible” and humiliated.

The family member seemingly deleted the video.

@sipteawithbrittney Did this turkey trot family prank go to far or was this all in good fun??? #turkeytrot #prank #familyprank #fypシ゚viral #fiance ♬ original sound – ✿ | B R I T T N E Y | ✿

After the video sparked backlash, the creator seemingly took it down. The account that posted it is also private now. But other creators, including @sipteawithbrittney have also shared it and asked people to weigh in. Before asking people to share their thoughts, Brittney read the original creator’s caption: “It’s not an official Butler Family Thanksgiving without a little prank tossed in. This girl is SUCH a trooper!! (She also loves pranks and thought the whole thing was very funny! I promise she was thrilled not to have to do any form of exercise).”

But people in the comments were not convinced. Several concerned TikTok users pointed out that people don’t just casually run 10Ks. To them, this made the prank even more upsetting. “You don’t just run 10Ks you TRAIN for them,” one person pointed out. “So that means she has probably been running for weeks to prepare. I’d be so upset.”

Others, including Brittney, noticed how the woman’s fiancé was cracking up, which seemed like a red flag to them. “i’d break up with him over this i’m not even joking bc why is your family hazing me 💀💀😭😭” someone else wrote in response.

The fact that the family actually posted the prank online made it seem even worse for some people. “If someone cried at my prank I’d never post it,” another person added. “I would feel horrible. That’s another layer to the whole humiliation ritual thing.”

Presumably, the family was not expecting to elicit such a negative response when they shared the prank, but now, people really feel sorry for the fiancée.
