Things apparently got pretty heated in a Long Island, New York, home earlier this week, and it led to a savage attack. But this wasn’t a case of partners involved in a domestic violence incident. This time, a 12-year-old boy allegedly stabbed his mother after an argument. Now she’s recovering, and he’s facing assault charges.
The Nassau County Police Department shared limited details about the attack in a news release. According to police, the 12-year-old boy and his 48-year-old mother had a verbal altercation that turned physical on September 16, 2025. At some point, the tween allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed his mother twice in the chest.
Thankfully, she survived, but has serious injuries. Police said the woman suffered a partially collapsed lung, and first responders transported her to a nearby hospital. She remains in stable condition. As far as her son is concerned, prosecutors have charged him with first-degree assault.
Valley Stream Independent News shared the story on Facebook, and it shocked many people.
One concerned commenter asked: “If mom gets a knife to chest, what happens to me? Or a teacher?”
Others think the suspect should face adult charges for an adult crime. “Should be tried as an adult!” one person wrote. “If he’s not this is why this country is in the state it’s in! This is horrifying and Enraging.”
“This is a sickening display of the Youth of today,” a follower ranted. “I’m so sorry but there is something wrong with the kids today. This 12-year-old should be tried as an adult. But no we all feel so bad because he’s young.. too bad that’s unacceptable behavior and he’s just going to grow up to be a hating killer.”
The commenter added: “That’s the bottom line no if ands or buts. If he can be that enraged and pissed to want to stab his mother that kids got mental issues. Which is another need in this country again to open the damn mental institutions! Hope the mom makes out well.”
This kid should consider himself lucky. If he lived in Volusia County, Florida, Sheriff Mike Chitwood would have blasted his name and face everywhere. We’re not so sure that’s a bad idea. Do a big boy crime, face big boy consequences. Hopefully, this mom will recover, and the family can move forward.
