Unborn Baby Killed in Highway Shooting Tragedy 18-Year-Old Mother Survived

Tragedy unfolded in Atlanta on December 20, 2025. Just after 5 p.m., police responded to a call about a shooting on Interstate 285 near Cascade Road SW. When officers arrived, they found the 21-year-old male driver injured as well as his 18-year-old pregnant passenger. Sadly, a bullet hit the teenager’s unborn baby girl. The baby later died from her injuries. Police are now searching for the shooter responsible for this heartbreaking crime. Coming just days before Christmas, the shooting rocked the community.

Fox 5 reported that the 21-year-old male and 18-year-old female both remained alert and breathing when police arrived. EMS took the victims to an area hospital, where staff declared the unborn baby dead. Police did not release what led to the shooting but confirmed homicide detectives are investigating.

Police spoke to the teenager’s father, who said his daughter’s baby girl was due in March, according to 11 Alive. The unidentified man claimed police have released very little information about the shooting. The investigation remains in the early stages, and the community is grieving the victims.

The sad story shocked many, who shared their condolences and prayers on Fox 5’s Facebook page.

“What the hell is wrong with people? This is awful. Prayers for the families,” someone commented.

“People are so Evil,” another person wrote. “Praying for the family.”

Others commented about how dangerous the area is. “Praying for the families. I used to live off I285. So glad I’m up north now. It’s like a war zone,” a resident wrote on the post.

“Oh my….right by my exit,” a follower shared. “I had no idea it was an unborn baby involved.”

As the shooting remains under investigation, many questions remain. But one thing is sure: A young expectant mother’s life will never be the same because of gun violence. At what point will people finally say, “Enough is enough?”
