Christine Falzone was in her third trimester of pregnancy, ready to welcome her daughter, Jules, with boyfriend William Kelly just before Christmas 2023. On December 17, police responded to a residence in Ossipee, New Hampshire, following a call about an unresponsive woman.
When they arrived, they found 33-year-old Falzone with multiple injuries. Neither she nor Jules survived. Kelly reportedly told police his girlfriend was responsible for her own death. An investigation proved that wasn’t the case, and Kelly, now 40, will spend decades in prison for her murder.
Kelly reportedly beat Falzone to death.
Per the New Hampshire Department of Justice, police arrived at the couple’s shack-like residence at 332 Water Village Road just before noon. They reportedly found Falzone unresponsive and covered in bruises.
According to court documents obtained by WMUR, Kelly tried to pin Falzone’s death on the pregnant woman, but more than 100 bruises on her body told a different story. She reportedly had five rib fractures, internal bleeding in her abdomen, and a head injury, all of which occurred while she was visibly pregnant.
Police arrested Kelly on the scene.
Initially, he faced a charge of second-degree murder in Falzone’s death. Prosecutors later charged him with his unborn child’s death as well, per a New Hampshire law passed in 2018, according to WMUR.
The fetal homicide law criminalizes the unlawful killing of an unborn child at or beyond 20 weeks gestation. Falzone was between 35 and 37 weeks pregnant at the time of her death.
A jury found Kelly guilty of two counts of second-degree murder.
Attorney General John M. Formella announced in July 2026 that a court found Kelly guilty on both charges of second-degree murder in the deaths of Falzone and their unborn baby.
“Our thoughts remain with Christine Falzone’s loved ones, who have endured an unimaginable loss,” Formella shared in a news release. “We are grateful for our dedicated trial team, the diligent investigators who worked this case, as well as for the careful work of the jury throughout this trial. Domestic violence can have devastating and irreversible consequences, and we hope this verdict provides a measure of justice for Christine and her unborn child.”
A judge sentenced Kelly to decades in prison.
Per WMUR, Kelly reportedly sat emotionless during a sentencing hearing following his murder conviction. A judge sentenced Kelly to two consecutive 40-year-to-life sentences in prison.
“Little did she know then that her life would be cut short, her dreams would fall to the floor as she did, and that she and her baby are going to be the storms that clear the path in the state of New Hampshire for every victim’s case coming forward,” Tiffany Marcos, Falzone’s aunt, said.
The judge rejected the defense’s push for leniency, instead giving Kelly the maximum sentence for the death of his girlfriend and their unborn child.
“We’re glad that the judge recognized there were two victims in this case,” Assistant Attorney General Brian Grekleck-McKeon said.
