There are a lot of ways to get a guy to leave you alone at a bar or a club, but unfortunately, none of those include actually telling him to go away. Most men have the confidence of someone much more successful and better looking and they take that confidence out with them everywhere they go, often refusing to take a first, second, or third no for an answer. It’s a great tactic if they are a salesman, but not so much if they are trying to meet a woman.
This is probably why one woman on TikTok by the name of Ella shared her way to easily rid herself of any unwanted male attention. According to her in her video, she lied about her age to make herself appear much, much younger than she is.
Could it backfire on the right guy (or, to be more exact, the worst type of guy)? Yes, very possibly. But it could also be something so jarring that a guy turns and runs for the hills. Or, you know, another woman to bother.

Let’s hope the man backed off after learning her fake age.
In Ellie’s TikTok, she tells a man she is “in eighth grade,” and switches the camera to his face. He mutters something and starts to leave. Ella then shows herself back on camera laughing and a friend shoots, “She’s actually 12!” Whether this is just an ongoing gag for her or a legitimate way to deter creepy guys while out with friends, it seems to work.
In text on the screen, Ella wrote, “When I’m not in the mood to talk to anyone so I pull this move.” In her caption, she apologized to anyone else she might have used the “eighth grade” lie on.
But can you blame her for resorting to this kind of tactic?
Men have a way of refusing to stand down, even after they get the overused excuses of a woman having a boyfriend or being uninterested in and unattracted to men altogether.
“I tried this once and he asked me when I turn 18,” one woman commented on the video.
Another pointed out, “Girl be careful with this. You might find the wrong one.”
But other women are still game to try it out the next time they’re hit on by someone they are not interested in.
“LMAO why have I never thought to name a grade because that makes it sound so real,” one chimed in.
When someone else joked that this tactic wouldn’t work on someone at Ole Miss, or the University of Mississippi, Elle commented to reveal the event in video actually took place at that very school. So hey, score one for the guys at Ole Miss, even if the bar is extremely low here.
It’s unclear how old Ella actually is. Judging from her other videos, she appears to be well over 12 and likely in her 20’s. However, to a drunk guy who pulls up on her at a bar, club, or concert, using the fake age trick could be the right move to at least confuse them enough to send them packing.
Again, it won’t always work in your favor, especially if you are clearly nowhere near underage. But for some, it could be a real game- changer.
