Woman Suffers a Miscarriage After Unprovoked Date Night Attack by Teens

A Chicago couple wanted a fun date night out, but instead, the evening ended in unexpected tragedy. While they were walking in the city’s Streeterviille neighborhood, the couple claimed, two juvenile suspects attacked them.

The attack was reportedly so violent that the woman, who was pregnant, suffered a miscarriage. The man and woman don’t understand why they were targeted in the vicious assault.

The female victim, who told Fox 32 her name is Nina, said the suspects apparently weren’t trying to rob them, but that it appeared to be a turf war. Nina and her husband are healing from the physical and emotional pain of a senseless attack that left them heartbroken.

The teenage assailants allegedly appeared out of nowhere.

According to Nina, she and her husband were walking near Grand Avenue and McClurg Court around 8:30 p.m. the night of the attack. She told Fox 32 the teenagers approached her and her husband and began kicking and punching them repeatedly. Nina ended up bruised and battered, with a chunk of hair pulled from her head. Her husband was taken to the ground and beaten by the group.

Nina doesn't understand why the teens attacked.

She told Fox 32 this wasn’t a robbery, but that two teens pepper sprayed her and kicked her in the stomach. Nina, who was two weeks pregnant at the time of the attack, told the news outlet that she lost the baby.

“We believe in faith, and it wasn’t meant to be. So, we don’t know why this happened to us,” Nina said.

Nina said the teens didn't seem to want anything from the couple.

She claimed the teens didn’t attempt to rob her and her husband, but they clearly didn’t want them walking in the neighborhood.

“They didn’t steal anything. They say like, ‘we own the street. We own the street. You can’t walk around.’ I was wearing like a nice dress and heels,” Nina said. “Like I was out on the date with my husband, and they dragged my dress on the ground, and they said, like, ‘we own the street. You can’t just walk around prancing in your little dress.’ And they were saying things that just didn’t make any sense to me because they don’t know me personally.”

Police reportedly arrested two juveniles a short time later.

Chicago police arrived at the scene of the attack a short time later and arrested a 14-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl. Both were charged with one count of misdemeanor battery.

The case is under investigation, and it was unclear if the teens will face any additional charges, Fox 32 reported.
