Kristin Davis, who played the adorably sweet Charlotte York Goldenblatt on Sex and the City, announced yesterday that she's now the proud mother of a baby girl. The actress, 46, adopted her daughter domestically and named her Gemma Rose Davis. Congrats!!
Kristin shared her story with People magazine and gushed about her beautiful daughter like only a new mother could. Everyone now … aaawww!
Here's what she had to say:
This is something I have wanted for a very long time. Having this wish come true is even more gratifying than I ever had imagined. I feel so blessed.
Kristin actually became Gemma's mommy a few months ago but kept it under wraps, lest she decided she wanted to return the little one. KIDDING. Obviously, Kristin wanted some privacy with her daughter before the news got out.
Talk about life imitating art, though. Kristin's character on SATC was eager to have a baby, and her story of struggle and triumph spoke to a lot of women out there experiencing the same sort of difficulties. On the show, Charlotte adopted a beautiful baby girl and named her Lily, then gave birth to another daughter named Rose. Looks like Kristin was inspired by each of Charlotte's daughters, and possibly by fellow actress Sandra Bullock, as well.
Sandy domestically adopted her baby boy, Louis, back in August 2010 when she too was 46-years-old. Sandra also waited a few months to break the news to the press — how these two A-listers were able to hide their little bundles of joy is a mystery to me, but I'm glad they got the privacy with their new babies that they all deserved. Sandy and Kristin are both stunning and talented women who seem like caring, nurturing moms with a lot of love to give … I'm so happy for them both.
But a big congrats to new mom Kristin! And hey, since the cat's out of the bag now, think we can see some cute baby pics?
Are you happy for Kristin?
