Carson Daly and his girlfriend, Siri Pinter, are over-the-moon after the birth of their new baby girl, Etta Jones (cutest name ever), who made her entrance into the world yesterday. Carson announced their big news on his Facebook page, and since he's such a nice guy, he even referred to Siri as a "rockstar" for how she handled the baby's birth. (Aww!)
And considering Siri is a food blogger, I guess it's only fitting that on the day before she delivered, she tried eating a "maternity salad" to bring on labor. Well, obviously whatever the heck was in that salad worked like a charm, which made me curious about its labor-inducing ingredients.
And yes, of course Siri blogged about this famous maternity salad, which is a popular item on the menu at a place called the Caioti Pizza Cafe in Studio City, California — and I have to admit, it looks and sounds pretty delish.
It consists of romaine lettuce, watercress, Gorgonzola cheese, and walnuts. Huh. Four ingredients that bring on labor when combined? That sounds too good to be true — and it is. Because apparently the Caioti Pizza Cafe has a secret dressing that tops the salad, and whatever is in that dressing is supposedly responsible for bringing on labor in many women. In fact, the restaurant gets about one to two DOZEN expectant moms who come in every day just for this salad, as you will hear in this video clip.

And if you don't live near Studio City, California, you can still try to re-create the salad at home, because the restaurant does take phone orders for the all-natural balsamic basil vinaigrette dressing. (Woo-hoo!)
If I'd known about this stuff when I was pregnant with my son, I probably would've given it a shot. And the promise of getting things moving as far as labor goes would've been about the only reason I would've given up pizza and cheeseburgers at that point in time — but going into labor naturally instead of being induced would've definitely been worth it.
Have you heard of the maternity salad? Will you try it to bring on labor, or do you know anyone who has?
