10 Craziest Celebrity Baby Names of the Last 4 Years

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are dealing with a whole lot of hate right now for deciding to torture name their new baby girl North West. As baby names go, it certainly falls in "Mommy better be saving for my therapy" territory. But to be fair to Kimye, they're not exactly breaking celebrity ground here. Giving your kid a crazy name is practically a rite of passage in Hollywood.

So how did Kim and Kanye do? On a scale from one to bananas? Take a look at the truly nutty names celebs have come up with lately.

From Blue Ivy to Buddy Bear, celebrities seem to pick from a different name book!

Jamie Oliver and wife Jools tend to favor flowery names for their girls (Poppy, Daisy, and Petal), but when they welcomed their first son in September 2010, they abandoned that plan for something a little more … ridiculous?

Buddy Bear Oliver is adorable, so adorable we can almost look past his friendly name. Almost.

Bear Blu Jarecki

Jamie and Jools Oliver aren't the only ones who thought Bear was a cuddly moniker befitting a baby. When Alicia Silverstone gave birth in May 2011, she and husband Christopher Jarecki named their son after a forest animal and followed it up with the colorful but bizarrely spelled Blu.

Ironically, Silverstone made huge news for feeding Bear Blu not like a forest forager but a bird.

When your mom is a former Playboy model, you're sure to be pretty as a picture. Or perhaps pretty as a rainbow?

Holly Madison and fiance Pasquale Rotella welcomed their first child earlier this year and gave her the colorful name of Rainbow Aurora.

Moroccan Scott Cannon

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon got one of each gender when she gave birth to twins in April 2011, and they split the baby naming too. Daughter Monroe's name is unusual but not particularly wild. Son Moroccan, on the other hand, has earned the couple a fair share of rolled eyes.

Not only does it seem to co-opt an entire culture, the story behind it is equally odd. The Moroccan Room is the name of their apartment!

When you go for a crazy baby name, you run the risk of having it butchered badly. When British recording artist gave birth to son Ikhyd in 2009, rumors first pegged his name as Ickitt. Sadly even the real thing sounds sort of … icky!

Hero Harper

Talk about pressure! British TV presenter Myleene Klass and fiance Graham Quinn apparently expect great things for their daughter, born in 2011. No word on whether little Hero is forced to wear lycra suits and long flowing capes.

Rosalind Arusha Arkadina Altalune Florence Thurman-Busson

Rosalind is a perfectly lovely name. The rest of Uma Thurman's baby girl's moniker is a mouthful.

I don't envy this child when she has to learn to spell it all. That's one kindergarten lesson that could take awhile!

Waylon Albert 'Blackjack' Jennings

Drea DeMatteo and Shooter Jennings' son's real name is pretty normal. He's named for dad (and grandpa). But the baby had JUST been born when Mom and Dad threw in Blackjack.

Hey, it's better than craps …

North West

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West really cut down on future procreative possibilities by naming daughter North West. She could have a brother named South West, but then what? South by South West? Sun Sets in the … West?

Blue Ivy Carter

Beyonce and Jay-Z's daughter Blue Ivy Carter has one of the most famous baby names out there. Which doesn't mean it's the best.
