Choosing a unique baby shower gift that mom will use can be difficult. Sure, you can get the same thing as everyone else – diapers, wipes, newborn clothing, etc. but why do that when you can have your baby shower gift stand out from the rest while keeping it real. Bringing a unique baby shower gift is great but only if it's something mom will use after she has the baby.
1) Huge Diaper Cake – Of course every new mom will need diapers, but don't forget to consider how fast babies grow. One moment you’re a soon-to-be mommy, and then you’re a mom, and before you know it you have a toddler on your hands. Think about going bigger on the diapers. I didn’t buy diapers for almost two years because everyone purchased different sizes of diapers, and my sister-n-law made me a huge diaper cake with various size diapers. I think it had seven layers, it was awesome, and the smallest size was on top because there was less of the smaller diapers and more of the larger ones.
2) Onesies – Again, think bigger sizes. Seriously, most babies don’t fit into their newborn clothing for long. I always try and stick with 12 months or larger because they’ll get more use out of them.
3) Hand/footprint kit – I am so thankful someone purchased me a handprint kit. I was able to get my kids’ little prints; it’s something I don’t think I would have remembered on my own but I love seeing it on my wall. It’s a constant reminder to focus on today because tomorrow my babies will be another day older. It happens too fast; memories are so important.
4) Think baby proofing – Remember our little ones grow up quickly and sooner than later mom will need to start baby proofing the house. How cool would it be to already have the things you need? From electrical outlets to the corners of the table I’m sure anything to help keep the little one safe will be greatly appreciated
5) Paid photography session – Seriously, being a new mom is awesome, but it’s also expensive and every mom wants those super cute baby pics because their children grow up too fast. Memories and photos are a huge part of being a parent; we can never have enough. Unless you have a friend who can take the shots, a paid photo session would be an awesome baby shower gift idea.
6) Babysitting coupon book – Strapped for cash but want to give mommy-to-be something she will need, love and appreciate very much? Consider a babysitting coupon book. You can make this at home, decorate it and provide mommy-to-be with coupons she can use for free babysitting so she can get her beauty sleep or just take a deep breath.
7) Laundry Detergent for every age and stage – As our little ones grow, so do their messes. A little spit up eventually turns into a spaghetti-stained onesie and that itty bitty cookie turns into a huge mess, lol. Seriously, I’m still not sure how kids do it but they can turn one little cookie into a pretty darn huge mess. It’s almost like there is this secret place inside the small cookie where big cookies live, and they only come out for little ones.
