Badass Mom Expecting Quintuplets Shares Her Beautiful Journey (PHOTOS)

Pregnancy is not just beautiful, it's a miracle. With 4-year-old and 2-year-old daughters, Australian mom Kim Tucci and her husband Vaughn wanted to try for one more child. Little did they know, they were in for a surprise — quintuplets, to be exact.

Wowzers.

It might be hard to imagine any expecting mother carrying multiples — let alone, five babies at one time — but Kim has been taking everything in stride. Her Facebook page, Surprised by Five, chronicles her journey as Kim nears the end of her pregnancy (she's currently around 30 weeks).

After trying to conceive for six months, undergoing laparoscopy surgery, and news of endometriosis, Kim wasn't sure if she could get pregnant. "My husband and I were desperately hoping to fall pregnant and have our third and final child together," she writes on her Surprised by Five blog. In July 2015, a sneaking suspicion led Kim to take a pregnancy test that, of course, was positive.

During an ultrasound appointment when she was five weeks along, Kim's sonographer confirmed two beating heartbeats — which made Kim think she was having twins. But after changing machines, two quickly turned to five. "My legs start to shake uncontrollably and all I can do is laugh," writes Kim.

"After my initial ultrasound I was told I could consider the selection method to give 2 babies the best chance in life," Kim writes. "All I knew is that I already love them and that every heart beat I heard I connect with them more." Kim decided to continue with her pregnancy, and at 12 weeks, she was overjoyed at the news all babies are healthy. "I feel like a huge strain has been lifted off my shoulders knowing they are all healthy so far. My body is doing what it needs to do to sustain these precious lives."

"I'm struggling to eat and force feed myself leaving me with reflux for hours," writes Kim, whose doctor recommended that she eat an extra 6,000 calories a day. "I'm finding it hard to eat as I basically have no room left in my stomach and the way it is positioned it's pushed all the way back with the babies leaning against it."

The Physical Challenges of Carrying 5

As you might imagine, carrying five children has its challenges. No matter how hopeful and positive Kim remains, there are changes to her body that can be quite painful. "The babies sit as high as under my ribs and stretch out to around my sides!" writes Kim. "My skin on my belly is so stretched its painful and hot to touch, it literally feels like I have hives!" Between nausea and body aches, Kim does her best to push through.
