If there's one "milestone" that makes parents collectively weep into their cold coffee, it's the day our kids outgrow their Carter's clothes. All those soft footed pajamas and adorably patterned separates surrendered to the "donate" pile — it's a sad day. Carter's is as synonymous with baby- and toddlerhood as loving mashed bananas, and that's helped the retailer become the largest branded marketer of clothes in the US for kids under 2. But Carter's is staking a new claim in our kids' closets today. The brand just announced a new line of clothes for big kids sizes 4-14.
The new line, aptly titled Carter's Kid, includes 700 new pieces designed with active kids in mind.
The collections include athletic wear, separates for layering or mixing and matching, everyday wear, and graphic tees with cool prints about science, food, gaming, and inspiring quotes like "girls can do anything."
In a press release provided to CafeMom, Maureen Flaherty, Carter's senior vice president of design, explained, "We designed the line thinking about what kids love to do … encouraging them to embrace their individuality and to have fun putting together their own style. We kept in mind that comfort is key and quality is important to mom."
The new line is intended to make Carter's a "one-stop shop" for baby and kid clothes.
The styles in Carter's Kid coordinate back to planned styles for its baby and toddler clothes to make matching outfits super easy (hello, cute family photos). And the new clothes are designed with the same attention to details and materials that parents have come to expect from the brand.
The clothes were also designed with back to school in mind, so they were made for comfort and fit.
They have stylish details like sequins, camo, emojis, dinosaurs, glitter, and yes, even a few unicorns. Kids will love piecing together their own outfits based on these trendy and unique offerings. Plus, the lines include denim! Jeans, jackets, skirts — you name it. It's so hard to find good jeans for kids, so it's downright thrilling to have a new place to look.
Carter's Kid will be available online starting June 5 and widely released in stores on July 9.
Once it's available, parents can shop the new duds at Carters.com or at one of the 600 Carter's stores and outlets that exist nationwide. Carter's is also carried by Belk, Bon-Ton, JCPenney, Kohl's, Macy's, and Sears.
In the meantime, Carter's just announced a huge summer sale on its baby and toddler clothes.
Today, May 1, 2018, parents can get up to 50 percent off plus $6 "door busters" at Carters.com. And hey, pretty soon we'll have some adorable big-kid clothes to match all those great baby and toddler finds.
