Women Are Bragging About Having ‘Peegasms’ & the Trend Has Doctors Concerned

Thanks to the Internet, most of us are no stranger to weird viral bathroom trends. There was that time Gwyneth Paltrow told us to steam our vaginas. And then there was also the bizarre trend of people using wasp nests to "tighten" their vaginas. And now? Well, now we have people putting themselves in harm's way to achieve a "peegasm."

What the hell is a peegasm, you ask?

For most of us, a "peegasm" is not quite an orgasm. Instead, it's just that intense feeling of relief that happens on accident when we're on a road trip and finally pee after we've been holding it for 62 miles.

But according to one Redditor, his girlfriend has peegasms that are actual, real-life orgasms. And she achieves them regularly, even doing Kegels while peeing to enhance the feeling so she ends up with sensations that "leave her lightheaded and off balance." He added, "Apart from being super jealous, I was curious if anyone else has had this sort of thing happen?"

Surprisingly, other people totally knew what he was talking about and started sharing their own tales of peegasms past.

One Redditor wrote that she stops and starts mid-pee just to make sure she has a peegasm.

One user even wrote that he or she intentionally asks their partner to hold her pee all day so it feels more intense for her when they have sex.

It sounds weird, but it's not completely crazy. Dr. Charlotte Elder, a gynecologist and spokesperson for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, told KidSpot that holding your pee can actually create feelings of pleasure very similar to the sensation we get from having sex. “A full bladder while you’re asleep will stimulate your pelvic floor nerves a bit which makes you more likely to have a sexy dream which can trigger an orgasm while you’re asleep,” she said.

The problem is that intentionally holding your pee to chase the Big O (or Big P, if you will) is really bad for your bladder.

According to Dr. Michael Huckabee from the University of Nebraska, holding your pee in every once in a while isn't that big of a deal. But routinely holding it in too long can start to disrupt your bladder's natural signals that let you know when it's too full.

Elder also warns that, over time, holding pee too long can increase the risk of urinary tract infections and can even stretch your bladder, in some cases causing irreparable damage. “There are more practical and more pleasurable ways to have an orgasm,” she said. “My advice is to try something a bit more old-fashioned.”

Look, we totally get the appeal of having orgasms in any form.

But be careful out there, ladies. Your bladder is counting on you.
